The payment page kept loading, then it returned to the current page and showed a payment failed message.
Everyone, including Henry, was stunned.
He refused to believe it and clicked several more times, but the result was the same.
"Why can't it go through? Could it be that there's no money?" The classmates gave him strange looks.
Henry panicked. He suddenly realized I must have interfered. With everyone watching, he couldn't confront me directly. He tried to stay calm and explained, "I forgot that I maxed out this card yesterday when I bought a motorcycle. I'll use a new card tomorrow to book it."
As soon as they heard he bought a new motorcycle, everyone's eyes lit up with envy. They believed him without hesitation.
"Oh, so that's it. I knew Henry wouldn't be out of money."
"But I thought black cards have no limit?" I said. That one sentence shattered Henry's calm. His face went pale, and he started trembling.
"Yeah, that's true. Henry should know that, right? Could this black card be fake?" The whole room erupted in whispers.
"No way! I just ordered swimsuits online for our Maldives trip, and they've already shipped. I can't get a refund!"
"Yeah, me too! I've already bragged to my friends that I'm going to the Maldives this weekend. I can't be embarrassed now!"
The classmates turned on Henry, pressing him hard.
"Henry, you better give us an explanation today, or we're not friends anymore."
"Yeah."
Dozens of eyes stared at him intensely. Henry's face turned pale. He bit his lower lip. Beads of sweat the size of peas rolled down his forehead. His usual arrogance was nowhere to be seen.
"I, I..." he stammered, trying to explain. But aside from "I," no other words came out.
Suddenly, his attempts to explain stopped. He closed his eyes and fainted on the spot.
I dropped the pen in my hand, pouting with boredom. "This is no fun at all."
