I Took Back My Life from My Cheating Husband

The next day, I woke up to a message on my phone.

It was from the private investigator I hired last night.

“The investigation is complete. Sylvia is not Derek’s biological sister. She is a child bride raised by the Cross family since childhood. She is three months pregnant and apparently doesn’t know that Derek is married.”

I gritted my teeth as I read the message, immediately dialing my brother Victor and the lawyer to come over.

As I stepped out of the room, Derek and Mabel were still excitedly discussing what to buy. When they saw me, their expressions momentarily froze, but they quickly resumed their smiles.

“Honey, what do you think of this car? You didn’t get me a Valentine’s gift yesterday. How about this one?”

“Oh, my wife didn’t get one either. Daughter-in-law, look at this gold bracelet. It’s heavy, beautiful, and perfect for Mom, don’t you think?”

I pushed them aside, spun around, and slapped Derek hard across the face, kicking him in the crotch with all my strength.

“A car? You want to buy one to kill me? This piece of trash.”

What a useless piece of garbage, unable to control his own damn lower half.

Mabel rushed toward me, trying to push me away, but I didn’t budge.

I slapped her across the face too.

Then, I forcefully ripped the gold bracelet from her hand and slammed it into her face.

“A gold bracelet? How about I use it to smash your face?”

I slapped her again.

Nothing beats a slap for making a statement.

“You were just talking about what to buy. I didn’t quite catch it—care to repeat it?”

“Vera Linfield! Is this how you show respect for your husband and care for your mother-in-law? You’re so uncouth! Your parents must be just as unrefined as you are!”

Mabel shouted these words in fury.

“Oh, you want a slap? Well, I’ll be merciful and give you one!” I said, charging at Mabel and kicking her hard.

Years of taekwondo training were paying off today!

Just as I prepared to strike again, the doorbell rang.

It must be my brother and the lawyer.

Victor walked in, took one look at the scene, said nothing, but let out a cold grunt. He stepped in front of me protectively, grabbed the divorce papers from the lawyer, and slapped them forcefully into Derek’s face.

Derek flipped through the papers, his face full of disbelief. Mabel immediately snatched the papers from his hands to take a look herself.

Her face twisted in fury as she tore the divorce papers to shreds.

“Clean break? Don’t even think about it!” she screamed.

“Since you’re married now, you’re a member of the Cross family for life. No one will want you after this!”

At that moment, she looked completely deranged.

I threw the stack of photos Victor had brought over at them. “Look at these chat logs, and the photos from yesterday.”

“Derek, if you don’t want this to get out to your workplace, sign the papers.” I said coldly.

Derek works within the system, and if this scandal gets out, he’ll be out of a job. Moreover, my family had put in some effort to help him land this job.

We stood in silent confrontation.

Suddenly, Mabel lunged at me, holding a fruit knife, rushing straight at me.

Victor quickly stepped in to shield me, but he was a second too slow. The knife slashed his arm.

He shoved Mabel aside with such force that she crashed to the ground with a muffled thud.

As she fell, the knife in her hand grazed her own face, leaving a deep cut.

“Let’s go.”

I nodded obediently.

As we walked out, two burly men passed us in the hallway.

When we reached the elevator, though I couldn’t make out the details, I could still hear the screams of Derek and Mabel in the distance.

It felt so damn satisfying.
