Chapter 4

“Dad, don’t worry.” I wiped the sweat off my face, “I have a way to deal with them. Let's deal with those who are traitors first.”

A week before the wedding, I went to the cemetery alone.

“Mom, I won’t make the same mistake again this time.”

The phone suddenly vibrated.

The bank sent me an urgent notice that all of my 50 million trust funds were transferred out.

I immediately called my assistant.

“Sir, someone forged your signature and transferred the money!”

Twenty minutes later, I rushed into Tobias's newly opened studio.

“Jessie!” My voice instantly silenced the entire place. “Who allowed you to touch my trust fund?”

She turned around slowly and said, “Moses, you have bullied Tobias time and time again. This money should be your apology.”

She deliberately raised her voice, “After marriage, it's all common property anyway, so don’t be so petty.”

My chest heaved violently and my vision went dark.

At this moment, a familiar light flashed on Tobias's wrist.

That was the jade ring that I locked in the bank safe, my mother’s favorite relic when she was alive.

I grabbed Tobias's wrist and said, “Take off the ring!”

Tobias's eyes immediately turned red and he hid behind Jessie.

Jessie said impatiently, “It's just an old ring…."

Before she finished her sentence, I reached out and pulled it off. “I told you to take it off!”

As I pulled, the ring hit the marble floor with a clang, leaving a fine crack.

“Pah!”

I raised my hand and slapped Tobias hard.

Tobias covered his face and Jessie pushed me away angrily, “Are you crazy?!”

I raised my head and looked at her coldly.

Jessie took a half step back because of my gaze and her voice became weaker unconsciously, “I mean, it's just a ring, why are you so angry?"

I slowly squatted down and picked up the ring with trembling fingertips.

Back in the car, veins bulged on my hand as I clenched the ring.

I opened my phone and the hot search exploded. “The Heir to A Wealthy Family Was Stripped in Public]

In the photo, I was disheveled and Tobias was wearing my coat and leaning against Jessie, with the caption, [For some people, things they rob are not theirs after all.]

I turned off my phone.

I also wanted to say this to him. What he robbed was not his after all.

But the online public opinion was overwhelming and all kinds of unpleasant words stabbed my heart like a knife.

“The eldest young master of the Bryant Family is such a bastard that he was completely subdued by his fiancée!”

“Look at how cowardly he is. He deserves to be bullied!”

When I called my assistant, my voice was eerily calm. “Remove those posts from the Internet. Also, I want the money back in full. No matter the price, no matter the means.

“If the bank dares to shirk responsibility, let them prepare to receive a lawyer's letter. If anyone tries to stop me…."

I sneered as I added, “Let them think about the consequences of offending the Bryant family.”

Early in the morning of the wedding day, Jessie called.

“Moses,” Jessie's voice was full of confidence and pride. “You scared Tobias about the ring incident that day. He is emotionally unstable now. The doctor said we need to pay special attention to him.”

I stood in the cloakroom adjusting my cufflinks, the mirror reflected my sneer, “So, you posted my photo online to vent your lover's anger?”

She snorted coldly, “Don’t forget that your father's mining project still relies on my family's connections. Besides me, who else can help your family with this?”

I slowly adjusted my tie and tapped my fingers on the chest of drawers.

“How about this,” she said as if giving me alms, “you transfer 50% of the shares under your name to Tobias as a pre-wedding gift to me.”

She chuckled, “After we get married, what's mine is yours.”

On the other end of the phone, Tobias called ‘Jessie’ affectionately. She immediately softened her voice and said, “I'll be there right away!”

“As long as you promise, I will show up at the wedding on time today.”

I hung up the call and added the number to my blacklist.

In the banquet hall, when Elliot's wheelchair slowly drove in, the whole audience was suddenly in an uproar. She was wearing a silver mask today, but when she saw me, her eyebrows curved into a gentle arc.

“Bang!”

The door was pushed open violently.

Jessie rushed in in a white wedding dress, with a determined smile on her face. But when her eyes fell on Elliot beside me, her whole face twisted instantly.

“Moses,” her voice began to tremble, “What does this mean?”

“Elliot!” She suddenly shouted, “What are you doing here?”

This question was not only what she wanted to ask, but also the question of all the guests present. After all, Elliot never participated in any social activities.

I took a step forward and stood in front of Elliot's wheelchair.

Jessie's face turned pale as she questioned, “Moses, today is our wedding day. What do you mean by calling someone here?”

Tobias stepped forward and said, “Mr. Bryant, even if Jessie has been spending more time with me recently, you don’t have to find a disabled woman to annoy her, right?”

I took a deep breath, “Jessie…."

“That's enough!” Jessie suddenly grabbed my wrist. “From now on I am your wife and you are playing such a clumsy trick?”

I slammed her hand away.

At this moment, the emcee's loud voice resounded throughout the venue.

“Dear distinguished guests, welcome to the wedding of Mr. Moses and Miss Elliot.”
