The Husband Personally Arranged the Scene of Catching the Adulterer
Chapter 3
Several times, Ray replied to someone's messages late at night, smiling heartily at his phone screen.
I asked him, and he said it was a new client who sent him good news.
Why would he beam at a client's messages? He must have been flirting with Bonnie.
Unfortunately, at that time, I was blinded by love and never doubted him.
The computer in the study, when logged in, was his web version of WhatsApp. The chat records used to be synchronized.
He smiled and said that he had no secrets from me, and I could check whenever I felt like it.
Once, when I checked some information on the computer, I saw that the interface of his WhatsApp was completely blank.
I felt strange and immediately asked him.
He popped his head out of the kitchen and explained that the system had been reinstalled on the computer, and it might sync in a few days.
He looked so sincere, and he was in the kitchen cooking my favorite dish.
Why should I doubt him?
Suspicious women were the biggest threat to a marriage.
Now I realized how stupid I was back then. He must have turned off the sync function and erased all traces.
I didn't know how they got together, but one thing I was sure of.
Ray would never dare to do anything wrong under my grandfather's nose.
Yes, they both worked at my grandfather's company.
Ray was the general manager, and Bonnie was the HR director.
Perhaps it happened during the first team-building event at the company after my grandfather passed away.
Ray said they would have dinner first and then go to the hot springs.
He asked me if I wanted to go, but I always disliked this kind of occasion, so I refused without hesitation.
He used to persuade me to join them sweetly, but not that day.
At 8:30 in the evening, he sent me a message.
[The dinner is not over yet, and we're still drinking. It might be late when I go back.] Attached was a photo of a wine glass.
I was concerned about his health. [Don't drink that much. It's not good for your stomach.]
After replying to his message, I habitually checked my Instagram.
I saw a short video posted by another senior executive of the company a minute ago. He filmed the bamboo forest of the hot spring hotel. Even in the night, it was still lush and green. There was a man's figure flashing by. The swimming trunks he was wearing seemed to be the ones Ray brought.
Had he already gone to the hot spring hotel? Then why did he lie to me and say he was still drinking?
I couldn't think of any reason. I told myself that men's swimming trunks all looked similar.
But I looked at that figure several times, and it seemed it was Ray for sure. Too bad it was a bit blurry.
But I remembered that Bonnie didn't post anything on Instagram that day.
Did I miss something?
I remembered she mentioned to me before that young people nowadays preferred to share their lives on another social platform.
The name was ... TikTok?
After downloading TikTok and registering, I selected several tags and scrolled down, checking the posts of people in the same town.
Even though Bonnie used an alt account, I still easily found her.
She posted a Hermes bag, and her post was recommended to be on the homepage of TikTok.
It was a limited-edition bag, the only one in town, and I gave it to her.
I clicked on her profile picture and scrolled down. On the day they went to the hot spring hotel, she posted on TikTok.
It was a photo of a man and a woman in bed holding hands.
The man's ring finger had only a shallow mark. There was no ring.
He said he would never take off his wedding ring. What a liar.
I could recognize Ray's hand under any circumstances.
It seems that he made great use of the time to have an affair with Bonnie in the hotel room.
He lied to me at the same time, telling me he'd go home immediately after the hot spring.
I knew for sure that they were having an affair.
During this time, I stayed in a hotel and dealt with the inheritance affairs after my grandfather's death.
I was an only child. My parents died when I was young, and my grandfather took care of me as I grew up.
Although my grandfather left a will, my two aunts thought they got too little and wanted to compete with me.
On Saturday night, I waited for Conrad in the hotel room.
At seven o'clock, he arrived on time.
I listened to the sound of rushing water in the bathroom and felt very pleased.
Suddenly, the room door was banged, and I thought it was room service.
I opened the door, and Ray blocked me, gritting his teeth.
"Grace, how could you retaliate against me like this?"
