Chapter 4

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Jagger's parents, who knew nothing about Jeremy and me since he didn't want to go public, it saved me a lot of trouble.

On the way home, Jagger suddenly asked me, "Do you have any family rules?"

"Huh? What?" Jagger was acting very strange today, like when we were kids, often throwing a bunch of random questions at me.

I turned to look at him with a smile, Jagger staring straight ahead. His fair skin made his lips look very red, and his profile was distinct, with both a masculine strength and a touch of soft beauty.

Jagger swallowed and continued, "I just found out today that one of our family rules is that if you bring a girl home, you must marry her."

Talking with Jagger was always relaxing, more like talking with family than friends. I casually asked, "Which girl is so lucky to be brought home by Jagger?"

Jagger took a deep breath, about to say something when my phone rang.

It was Jeremy. I answered, and his hoarse voice came through, "Emma, I have a headache. Come back and give me a massage."

I sneered, "We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Go find one of your flings to give you a massage."

Unfazed, Jeremy continued, "I only love you, Emma. You know that in the business world, there are always some social games. Understand me, for the sake of giving you a better life, I have no choice, you..."

I hung up before he could finish.

In the private room, Jeremy's face turned dark.

"Jeremy, do you think Emma is serious this time? She used to come running within ten minutes of a call."

"Impossible. She's definitely putting on a show. Breaking up with Jeremy would be harder than reaching the sky. This is a tactic to play hard to get. Learn from it."

Everyone laughed.

Jeremy's tense expression relaxed a bit, and his hand slowly moved to Susan's waist.

Jagger lit a cigarette, exhaling smoke slowly, and after a long silence, he spoke, "What's so good about Jeremy, a lowly creature who can't control himself."

"I know you want Jeremy to pay for his actions, and I've always wanted to secure the new project in the development zone. Right now, Jeremy is the strongest competitor. We have the same goal. If we get married, we can definitely bring down the Black group."

"Why do we need to get married to bring down the Black group?"

"Maybe, because of the family rules?"

And just like that, I ended up marrying Jagger.

Perhaps it was out of revenge against Jeremy.

Walking out of the civil affairs bureau, I looked at the red marriage certificate in my hand, dazed.

Jagger took out his phone, taking photos from various angles.

That night, I regretted it.
