Chapter 2

I swallowed the swirling emotions in my heart and said, “Let’s not follow him anymore.”

When I first saw the search history, I deceived myself into thinking it might be some close female colleague.

Ronan is the only son in his family - no sisters.

The only relative he has is a cousin, but no matter how close their relationship, who would have such a lack of boundaries to let a male colleague prepare those things for them?

It wasn't until I saw that familiar nickname, until the endless chat records started appearing one by one before my eyes, until I saw that familiar profile.

Luna is Ronan’s junior from the same school and major.

One year, Ronan, as an outstanding alumnus, went to Westwood University to share his experiences with the graduates. When he came back, he told me he had met a particularly interesting younger schoolmate.

During the Q&A session, while other students were asking about professional employment issues, this little girl stood up and unrelatedly asked him if he had a girlfriend.

Amidst the burst of laughter, Ronan was taken aback by the question.

He’s handsome and capable, and was a campus sensation during his university days. Many girls liked him.

Countless girls proactively approached him, and I was one of them.

But I was still delighted that among the thousands of admirers, he chose me.

At that time, he was accompanying me, sitting on the couch watching soap operas. I asked him how he responded.

He said, “What else could I say? I showed her the ring on my finger, of course.”

I also just took it as a joke and didn’t think much of it.

There was even a sense of pride that my treasure was envied by others but remained mine.

I never expected that a trivial incident would be the beginning of our marriage crisis.

The first time I saw Luna in person was at Ronan’s law firm.

It was our wedding anniversary, and after work, I went to his office to wait for him.

But on his desk, I saw a package of strawberry print wet wipes.

Luna approached with a coffee in her hand and enthusiastically introduced herself, telling me she was Ronan’s schoolmate.

She expressed her admiration for him and said she envied our relationship, urging me to share our love story with her.

That was the first time I felt a sense of crisis.

The unwavering fearless look in her eyes was too obvious.

Seeing my frowned face, she apologized, saying she was naturally outgoing and asked me not to mind. She was merely envious of our relationship and regretted not experiencing a passionate love during her university days.

That night, for the first time, I lost my temper at Ronan - who’s usually very stable - questioning why he didn’t tell me and why someone else’s things were in his office.

It was mostly a one-sided vent on my part because Ronan was calmer than I was.

When I finished venting, he sighed and softly comforted me, “She’s just an intern. Why get so upset?”

“Vivian, do we really lack that bit of trust between us? Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”

He showed the stains on his white shirt, saying he accidentally spilled coffee on himself during lunch but had to meet a client urgently, so he used Luna’s wet wipes.

Though I was upset, I didn’t want to ruin our eagerly awaited anniversary, so I softened and believed him, thinking it was just an intern.

And I thought that was the end of it.

I don’t know when exactly it started, but the frequency of hearing Luna’s name from Ronan’s mouth increased gradually.

Initially, it was complaints. He said he’d never seen someone so careless - as a lawyer, she could mistakenly handle client information, causing the entire team’s months of effort to go down the drain.
