From Attachment to Detachment in Love's Journey Chapter 1

On the day my wife Jasmine Wilson returned from a business trip, I secretly brought our child to the airport to pick her up, wanting to give her a surprise.

When Jasmine came out, she was talking and laughing with a man.

When they were about to part, the man suddenly hugged Jasmine's waist.

I thought Jasmine would be angry, but she didn't even give that man a warning look. Instead, she said to him shyly, "Don't do this in the company."

I picked up the child and left the airport.

When Jasmine came home, she saw me in the kitchen.

There was a look of guilt on her face.

"Chris, you must be tired at home these days. Let's eat."

We've been married for six years, but I rarely heard Jasmine say such things.

She always emphasized to me that she was the hardest working, strongest, and greatest person in the world.

The scene I saw at the airport reminded me of the phone call I made to Jasmine the night before. She was breathless and told me that she was jogging, and then hung up the phone in a hurry.

It seemed that she lied to me.

When I thought of this, I felt uncomfortable in my heart.

"I'm not hungry. You guys eat."

I returned to the room, but soon, Jasmine came and sat next to me.

She said unhappily, "Chris, we haven't seen each other for a week. Why did you lose your temper as soon as we met?"

I smiled and asked her, "Stop joking. I'm just a househusband. How dare I lose my temper at you?"

She told the sarcasm in my words. She explained that she was too busy on the business trip to call me.

To coax me, she took out the T-shirt she bought for me and asked me to try it on.

"I bought parent-child clothes for us. You were unhappy that I didn't wear lover's clothes with you before. Are you satisfied now? Come and try it on to see if it fits you."

I knew that she was deliberately bringing this up to change the subject, so I grabbed the T-shirt and threw it out, which made her lose her patience.

"Chris, you're not done yet, are you? Is it because I took Bruce with me on the business trip? He is my alumnus and also my employee. He wants to learn some work experience from me. What's wrong with that?"

I asked back, "It's not just work experience that he wants to learn from you, right?"

"What do you mean? Chris, do you think everyone is dirty? You're too idle!

"What am I working so hard for? Isn't it for our family? What else can you do besides being jealous? If you can make money, do I need to work so hard?

"Do you know what other people are saying about us? They all say I have a toyboy. You always stay at home, but I lose face because of you!"

For three years, I had been living under this kind of pressure.

Every time we quarreled, she repeated the same things, saying I was an incompetent toyboy.

In the past, I would take the initiative to apologize to her.

I understood her temper, and since I was her husband, I should be more tolerant.

But this time, I wouldn't because it was not about temper, but about betrayal.
