Chapter 1

During the holiday trip, we encountered a landslide.

As a member of the search and rescue team, my boyfriend rushed to rescue his childhood sweetheart who was unharmed in the car, while I was trapped under a boulder.

Watching him walk away with his childhood sweetheart in his arms, I was utterly disappointed.

Afterward, his childhood sweetheart made a heartfelt confession on Instagram: [I can never repay his life-saving grace, so I'd like to offer myself to him. Will he accept me?]

All my friends were waiting to see my reaction.

I replied sarcastically: [Thank you for taking out the trash for me.]

--

One week after I was hospitalized, William Anderson finally remembered that he had a wife.

But he didn't come to care for me but to seek justice for his childhood sweetheart.

"What did you mean by that statement you posted on Sally's Instagram yesterday? You're 30 years old. Can't you be more mature?"

I retorted with a smile, "Yeah, I'm 30, and you're 32. Why do you still act like a child every day and treat flirtation as friendship?"

He raised his hand in anger, while I lifted my chin and looked straight at him.

I had been in the media circle for many years, naturally with a strong presence.

He was somewhat timid when he saw the way I looked, retracting his hand.

It had always been like that. When he was unhappy, he hit and scolded me.

I never resisted because I loved him. I had loved him for 15 years.

But things were different now. Through what had happened that day, I suddenly realized that this man didn't even care about my life.

I didn't want to endure it anymore.

So, I said again, "I'm injured. As my husband, shouldn't you care about me? Yet you come here and accuse me arrogantly?"

William sneered and glanced at my right hand wrapped in gauze, saying, "Psycho! You are injured, but Sally was frightened. Physical wounds are easy to heal. Can you take responsibility for her emotional damage?"

Me?

On that day off, I made an appointment with William for a self-driving trip. Sally Moore heard about it and insisted on joining us.

William suddenly had something to deal with as a member of the search and rescue team.

So, Sally and I went first.

There was a sudden heavy rain on the way, and I suggested turning back, but Sally insisted on continuing.

She even asked me to get out of the car to check the situation. Otherwise, how could that happen?

I told William all those. He was instantly choked. He snorted coldly, then walked out of the ward.

The other bedside table was filled with flowers and fruits, but only mine was empty.

William didn't even think about bringing me anything.
