Chapter 2

Kaye’s POV

"Lady Kaye? Lady Kaye!"

I woke up feeling someone shaking me. Slowly, I opened my eyes, squinting as the sunlight hit my face. Confusion clouded my mind. Where am I? What happened? My head throbbed painfully as if it had been pounded with a hammer.

"Lady Kaye, what happened to you? Why are you lying outside the mansion?"

Hearing those words, my eyes widened in shock. Without thinking, I sat up abruptly. That’s when I realized I was lying on the ground—outside. My gaze darted around, taking in the surroundings. I was, indeed, outside our mansion.

“H-How did I get here?” I asked, my voice trembling with confusion.

“I should be asking you that, Lady Kaye,” the maid replied, her expression a mixture of concern and bewilderment. “I just found you here, lying on the ground, as if you were peacefully sleeping. How did you get out?”

“I… I don’t know,” I stammered, my mind racing.

“Let’s go inside before Sir Killian finds you here. He might get angry…” she trailed off, her words laced with worry.

Her warning sent a chill down my spine. I hurriedly got up, accepting her hand for support. My body felt weak, and my head was still pounding, as if my thoughts were trapped in a fog. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t remember anything about how I ended up outside.

Once inside the mansion, the first thing that greeted me was his voice—booming, commanding, and laced with fury.

“Kaye!”

I froze on the spot. It was my husband, Killian. His tall, imposing figure stood at the end of the hallway, his piercing eyes locked onto mine.

“Where the fuck have you been?!” he demanded, his voice echoing off the walls. “You weren’t in our room!”

“I…” My throat tightened. “I don’t know,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

“Tell me!” he shouted.

Before I could respond, the maid stepped in, trembling as she spoke.

“S-Sir Killian, I found Lady Kaye outside the mansion. She was lying on the ground, she was sleeping there—”

“I’m not asking for your excuses!” Killian’s voice roared like thunder, cutting her off. “Get out of my sight before I decide to have you killed!”

The maid’s face turned pale, and her hands trembled as she bowed deeply. Without another word, she hurry away, leaving me alone with my furious husband.

Killian turned his sharp gaze back to me, his anger still burning. “Don’t fucking lie to me, Kaye! Answer my goddamn question!”

“I-I told you! I couldn’t remember it! I’m not lying!”

I glanced down at my arm, feeling an odd ache, and froze. My eyes widened in shock. There was a small puncture mark on my skin. Panic surged through me as I tried to recall the events of the previous night.

But everything was a blur—a foggy mess of distorted images and muffled whispers.

“Think harder!” Killian barked, stepping closer.

“I-I can’t!” I yelled, my voice cracking. “It’s all blurry… I don’t remember anything. But there were voices, Killian. Whispers… in my head. I—”

Before I could finish, Killian grabbed my wrist. His grip was firm, almost painful, as he began dragging me toward our bedroom.

“Killian, stop! Please, let me go!” I begged, struggling against his hold.

“You’re not going anywhere,” he growled. His voice was cold, sharp, and dripping with anger. “After what happened last night, I’m locking you up. You won’t step foot outside this room until I say so.”

The rage in his tone was undeniable. It wrapped around me like chains, heavy and suffocating. “Killian, please!” I pleaded, tears streaming down my face.

But he didn’t listen. He shoved me into the room and slammed the door shut. The loud thud echoed through the walls.

“You’ll stay here,” he declared from the other side. “For as long as I decide!”

“Killian!” I screamed, banging on the door. My fists pounded against the wood, but it was useless. He wasn’t going to open it.

Realizing there was no escape, I slid down to the floor, my back against the cold door.

My sobs echoed in the empty room, the weight of his anger and my helplessness crushing me.

“K-Killian…please…”

Eventually, exhaustion overtook me. My emotions, the pain, and the fear, they all drained the energy from my body.

Without realizing it, I collapsed and lose consciousness.

When I woke up, my body felt heavy, and my mind was foggy. I didn’t know how long I had been asleep, but fatigue clung to me.

I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the throbbing in my head.

Then, like a sudden flash of light, a memory surfaced.

“Inject the drug. Do it now.”

My eyes shot open as the words echoed in my mind. A series of fragmented images began playing like a disjointed movie. Faces, shadows, and muffled voices—it all came rushing back to me.

“No,” I whispered, my voice shaking. My breathing quickened as the pieces fell into place. “I-I was kidnapped!”

The realization sent a jolt through me. I scrambled to my feet, desperate to tell Killian. He needed to know!

I rushed to the door, pulling at the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. It was still locked.

“Please, open the door!” I shouted.

“Oh, babe,” a woman’s voice purred, “Where are we going to do it? Here?”

I froze.

Muffled voices seeped through the thick wood.

“Not here. My wife’s inside.”

My heart stopped.

“K-Killian?” I called, my voice breaking.

The muffled voices continued, and then I heard it—his voice.

“Let’s just do it here, in my office.”

“Okay, babe.”

“K-Killian!” I screamed, my fists slamming against the door.

Tears blurred my vision as the realization struck me like a dagger to the chest.

He wasn’t alone.

There was another woman…and they’re going to do something…
