Chapter 3

Colton was slightly moved and seemed to want to compensate me. He transferred 50 thousand dollars to me from his mobile phone, instructing me to spend freely.

I wasn't naive, and neither was Colton.

Years ago, he linked all his cards to my phone because he knew I was hesitant to spend his money, yet he was willing to keep a mistress.

I accepted the money calmly and lay down on the same bed with Colton.

Colton didn't seem to want to touch me either. He always drifted off to sleep as soon as he lay down.

But then, I spoke up suddenly.

"Adaline's husband cheated on her. They recently got divorced."

Colton jerked awake, and looked at me nervously.

He reassured, "Sophia, I won't cheat on you, and we won't get divorced."

I smiled at him.

"Of course we won't get divorced, provided you don't cheat on me."

My words seemed to make him even more anxious.

"Adaline had been with her husband for seven years, taking good care of him meticulously. If I were Adaline, I wouldn't let go of the cheating man. I would make sure to spend his money, refuse to divorce him, and exhaust him until he regretted his actions."

"I would spend his money to have some fun with handsome young men."

Colton became nervous. He put his arm around my shoulders and whispered to me to comfort me.

"That's someone else's family matter. Let's not meddle, okay?"

"We'll continue living our lives, and I'll always love you."

Don't trust a man.

Would Colton speak these words of love in another woman's bed?

I didn't sleep that night. I thought about many things, including the things between Colton and me.

My mind drifted back to the first time I met him.

He was wearing a school uniform and glasses, sitting in the corner and speaking softly.

At that time, he was still a poor student in the class, surviving on a meager budget, and appearing frail. I couldn't resist helping him once, then twice, until we became acquainted.

Later when we got married, I sympathized his hard work and helped him with the down payment.

My parents were dissatisfied with him at first. They thought his family was humble and his parents were barbarians. They couldn't see his worth.

Now that I think about it, my parents had better vision than I did.

Colton left early in the morning.

He never stayed for breakfast, always citing a busy schedule or early morning meetings.

I wondered what company required a 6 a.m. meeting, but seeing Colton's earnest demeanor, I held back my questions.

Colton had been kind to me before our marriage. He put the house in my name, linked his bank cards to my phone, and even offered to enable location services for my peace of mind.

I was so moved and never used the location feature.

Colton was confident in my trust, believing I wouldn't doubt him.

But since that video, our trust had shattered.

I checked his location and found he wasn't at his company but in an upscale neighborhood nearby.

Mission Hills Bay.

I stared at the little red dot as it stopped in front of a building, feeling a sharp pain in my heart.

Seven years of marriage and three years of love had become a joke at this moment.

Even though I hated Colton for cheating on me, I still feel sad when I see the facts with my own eyes.

I dialed the number I had memorized the day before.

The phone rang three times before a woman's voice answered.

"Who is it?" She asked.

A man's voice urged her, "Lucia, come and have breakfast."

The two voices overlapped.

It was Colton's voice!

He was making breakfast for another woman!
