Colton Stevens climbed from a humble, impoverished background to academic success at a top university, eventually securing a lucrative executive role. As a city girl, I married him, and to onlookers, he had achieved the ultimate life of success and stability. Yet, professional triumph and a seemingly perfect marriage were not enough to satisfy him. On the very day of our seventh wedding anniversary, the illusion of our happy life crumbles when I discover his devastating infidelity.

Finding Myself: Moving Away from Unfaithful Love Chapter 1

My husband, Colton Stevens, was born poor. He worked hard and steadily all the way, was admitted to the best local university. After graduation, he became an executive of a company with an annual salary of several hundred thousand dollars.

He married me, the city girl. Externally, he seemed to have reached life's pinnacle.

But I didn't expect that he was still not satisfied.

On our seventh wedding anniversary, Colton cheated on me.

That day, I followed my routine, cooking his favorite dishes and eagerly awaiting his return home.

Colton and I was college alumni, progressing from campus romance to marriage. Our relationship had always been good.

Each anniversary, he would thoughtfully present me with gifts, such as flowers, necklaces, or bags.

Early in the morning, I received a 5,000 dollars transfer from Colton, which was not much for him, who was about to be promoted to director.

But I was in the sweetest time of marriage, and I would be happy even if Colton transferred 500 dollars to me.

It was almost dawn and Colton still hadn't returned.

The candles on the table went out.

My expectation gradually disappeared. I knew Colton was very busy. He was busy getting promoted to director, keeping him away for most of the month.

As his wife, I couldn't cause trouble to him.

Just then, my phone suddenly rang. A strange text message and video appeared on my phone. I opened it and took a look.

My heart raced as I watched it.

The man in the video was hugging the woman and making love with her.

I couldn't see the woman's face clearly, but the man's face was very familiar to me.

That was my husband.

The man who once swore that he would never betray me and would do good to me in his life, was now hugging another woman and doing this on our wedding anniversary.

My heart ached so much that the hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously.

Just then, the door opened.

Colton entered with a briefcase. His eyes flashing as he approached me with an apologetic expression, "Sophia, there's a sudden big order at work, so I have to work overtime. I'm sorry."

He then picked up a lighter, lit a candle, and handed it to me with a smile.

"Sophia, it's time to blow out the candles."

I looked at him talking nonsense in a serious manner.

I couldn't imagine this elegant and handsome man would cheat on me.

His good looks, polite demeanor, and considerate nature made him appear as a progressive individual in the eyes of others.

I blew out the candle reluctantly. As I approached Colton, I could smell the faint lemon scent on him, as if he had just taken a shower. The folds on his suit were ironed meticulously.

"Colton, I'm tired." I said.

Maybe it's because I just watched the video, Colton’s face made me feel extremely disgusted.

Colton looked nervous, “Sophia, I really didn't mean it. Once this project is completed, I can secure a promotion to director.”

Of course, I knew. Colton had persisted on this project for four years.

He had been working hard.

I just find this matter ridiculous.
