Chapter 4

Because of the brutality of the case, the superiors attached great importance to it. During these days, almost everyone in the police force stayed in the police station.

When it was dark, Yuki called Dad. She sounded aggrieved. "Dad, why haven't you come back yet?"

Dad took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. Then, he spoke softly, "Yuki, I have been busy with a major case these days, and I may have to stay in the police station for a few days. I just ordered takeout for you. Please bear with it for a few days. After I finishes the case, I will take you to enjoy your favorite seafood buffet."

Standing beside Dad, I saw him treat Yuki with tenderness, which he never showed me, and I felt brokenhearted.

Sometimes, I felt strange. I was the younger sister, and Yuki was already 30 years old. But for Dad, Yuki was the one who would never grow up. Although I was seven years younger than Yuki, I was always taught to give in to Yuki.

Dad considered this as humility.

So, my clothes and food were Yuki's leftovers. Even on my birthday, I only could eat the leftover cake.

After hearing Dad's words, Yuki still felt aggrieved, but she was obedient. "Okay. Dad, take care of your health."

For Yuki's concern, Dad felt relaxed and smiled happily.

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Smith teased, "Mr. Jones, you're lucky. Both of your daughters are filial."

Dad replied, "Thanks."

"By the way, why hasn't Winnie brought you dinner today?"

When hearing my name, Dad was stunned for a moment.
