Chapter 1

When I was brutally dismembered, my husband, Arthur Hewitt, was watching a movie with his adopted sister, who was an angelic bitch.

I called him ten times for help before I died, and he didn't answer a single one.

Half an hour later, my bloodstained phone received a message from him.

It read: [Bitch, stop bothering me!]

[If it weren't for our son, I'd have strangled you myself!]

By then, my dead body had already been stripped bare by the killer, lying cold on the autopsy table.

In my heart, I prayed that they'd cut fewer pieces so Arthur could identify me sooner.

The next day, Arthur led the team investigating the city's sixth dismemberment murder case.

What he didn't know was that among the dismembered parts in the sewer, there was my final clue left for him.

——

The killer dismembered my body and scattered the parts in trash bins in the suburbs.

They even mailed one of my body parts to the city police station.

The killer's cruelty and arrogance shocked the precinct.

My husband, Arthur, was the youngest captain in the department.

He put on rubber gloves, personally retrieved my left leg from the sealed package, and sent it to the forensic lab.

A group of officers gathered around the lab's glass window, discussing the case.

One officer flipped through a file and said, "Captain Hewitt, this is already the six-th dismemberment case."

"It's clear they're targeting us!"

Arthur's brow furrowed as he was deep in thought.

Soon, the forensic team delivered their findings.

"The victim is female, and the estimated age is between twenty-three and twenty-five based on bone age.

"Rigor mortis is still present, so time of death should be less than twelve hours ago."

Arthur appeared uneasy, his fingers drumming rapidly on the table.

"Deploy all available forces, search the city for the remaining body parts, and identify the victim as quickly as possible.

"And the fact that the killer is targeting the police suggests this might be out of hatred!

"If anyone has female relatives matching this age profile, it's best to call and make sure they're safe."

I thought, "Arthur is really impressive. He can analyze the case in just a few minutes.

Three years ago, when he proposed to me, he had just joined the city's criminal investigation team as the top graduate of the police academy.

However, if he's so intelligent, how didn't he recognize his own wife's left foot?"

Some officers immediately began calling their families in a panic.

One officer asked, "Captain Hewitt, don't you want to call home too?"

"No need."

Arthur coldly replied, "My entire family died in that car accident."

The officer seemed a bit embarrassed, "But your wife..."

Arthur said in a deep voice, "She didn't die, but she is the one who deserves to die the most."

Tears welled up as I stared at Arthur, my heart aching at his words.

I thought, "My dear, I'm already dead."
