Eternal Farewell: Her Love Endures
Chapter 2
At three o'clock in the afternoon, the police received a call reporting the discovery of numerous body parts at a waste station in the western suburbs.
Arthur immediately led the criminal investigation team to the scene, launching a tense investigation.
In the center of the vast open-air landfill, the officers cleared a small area and laid down a plastic sheet.
On the sheet were my right leg, left arm, right arm, and head.
My broken body was gradually being pieced together.
The officers collecting the remains were agitated, discussing among themselves.
"The person's face was burned by sulfuric acid until the bones were exposed. What a huge hatred this must be!"
"The killer didn't just desecrate the body, they even mailed the left leg to the police station. How horrible!"
"In our bureau, there are just a few people, who on earth has provoked such a crazy murderer?"
Under the scorching sun, Arthur's white shirt was soaked with sweat as he focused intently on searching through the mountains of trash.
My soul hovered in the air, anxiously praying for Arthur.
If my spirit could truly help him, I hoped to bless my dear Arthur to find my body as soon as possible.
Otherwise, our son would be in danger!
Just before dawn the previous day, a group of thugs pried open our lock, attempting to break into our home.
Panicked, I picked up my sleeping son, hid him in the storage room, and locked the iron door.
In order not to wake up my son, when they broke in and stabbed me in the heart with a knife, I clenched my teeth and didn't make a sound.
I had sealed the USB drive containing evidence and the key to the storage room in a bag and swallowed it beforehand.
They were the hope I left for my son to survive and my final gift to Arthur.
Under my eager gaze, my body was soon fully reassembled.
The forensic pathologist removed his rubber gloves, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said, "The victim's face has been severely burned with acid. It'll take time to reconstruct.
"The only clue we have now is her severed right ring finger.
"The killer must have cut off the victim's ring finger because it held something that could identify her."
Arthur stroked his chin, his gaze suddenly sharp.
"The right ring finger... That's where the wedding ring goes!
"When a body stiffens after death, the ring will be stuck at the knuckle.
"The killer must have cut off the victim's finger to steal the ring!
"Who could she be? A woman between twenty-three and twenty-five, married, and connected to the police department..."
The officers fell into deep thought, following the clues Arthur provided.
I couldn't help but burst into tears.
When Arthur proposed to me, he knelt on one knee and slipped the ring onto my ring finger.
"My love, this diamond ring is a testament to our love.
"We'll wear it forever, just like we cherish every part of our bodies."
From the moment Arthur proposed, I never took off that wedding ring.
Later, the killer cruelly severed my ring finger to take the ring.
I thought, "Arthur, you loved me so much once. How could you not think of this?"
