Chapter 1

After being in love with Henry Walker for five years, he promised to marry me if I gave birth to his child.

When I was about to give birth, Henry held my face seriously.

He said he was a time traveler and now he had to return, so he could no longer be with me.

The pain overwhelmed me and I cried, begging him to stay, but he still left.

After a day and a night of agony, I finally gave birth to a stillborn child and barely survived.

Before I could recover from the grief of losing my baby, Henry burst in, panic written all over his face.

"Daisy needs blood. Come with me now!"

Ignoring my struggles, Henry dragged me away. I was already weak after giving birth.

On the way, the pain became unbearable and I passed out.

When I woke up, Henry was feeding Daisy millet porridge mouth to mouth.

In that moment, my heart sank to rock bottom.

‘Henry, I don’t want to marry you anymore.’

——

I didn’t know how long I had been unconscious, but I was unbearably thirsty.

Just as I was about to reach for a cup, before the smile on my lips could fade, a shadow loomed over me.

It was Henry. His handsome brows furrowed tightly as he said, "Who told you to touch this? If it’s dirty, how will Daisy drink it?"

Henry glanced at the cup with disgust and threw it into the trash without hesitation.

Instinctively, I lunged forward, trying to catch it, but my strength failed me and I collapsed to the floor.

Henry ignored me completely, turning to sit by Daisy and calling someone to bring a new cup.

Even though I knew Henry wouldn’t respond, my weakened body compelled me to speak. “Henry, could you pour me a glass of water?”

Henry didn’t reply. Unwilling to give up, I called out a few more times. Finally, Daisy tugged on his sleeve and only then did he spare me a glance.

"Miss, although I appreciate you donating blood for Daisy, it doesn’t mean I have to take care of you. And don’t call me like that in front of my fiancée. I don’t even know you!"

I was stunned. He didn’t know me? If he didn’t know me, how did he know which ward I was in? How did he know my blood type?

Thinking about Henry’s ridiculous excuse before I gave birth, I couldn’t help but find it laughable. But at the same time, a sharp, piercing pain spread through my heart.

Henry and I had been in love for many years, but every time I brought up about marriage, he would avoid the topic.

A year ago, he suddenly agreed to marry me. The condition was that I gave him a child and I agreed without hesitation. But now, the fiancée he spoke of was someone else and I’d become nothing more than a joke.

I forced myself to stand and tried to leave, but Henry grabbed me and pushed me back onto the bed.

“Daisy still needs your blood. You’re not going anywhere,” he said coldly. “If you’re thirsty, here.”

Henry picked up the discarded cup from the trash can and handed it to me.

At close range, I noticed the stains on the cup and turned my head away.

"Didn’t you say you wanted water? Why are you acting so picky?" Henry forcefully turned my face back and pried my mouth open, pouring the water in.

The dryness in my throat eased instantly and before I could stop myself, I swallowed several gulps, giving in to the relief.

“Henry, it seems she’s really thirsty. Why don’t you give her my water instead?” Daisy coughed weakly a few times, attempting to sit up as she offered her cup of water.

Henry immediately let go of me and turned to support Daisy. The water he had spilled soaked my clothes and the bed, leaving me feeling utterly uncomfortable.

“Daisy, don’t move around. She’s perfectly fine; you’re just too kind,” Henry said gently as he tucked Daisy’s blanket snugly around her and adjusted her pillow to make her more comfortable.

That tender, wholehearted care was something I once had, too.

Noticing my unguarded stare, Henry stepped in front of Daisy, blocking her from my view and then grabbed my arm, pulling me out of the room.
