Divorce A Cruel Wife
Chapter 2
I wanted to argue back, but I understood that now was not the time to do it.
"On the way to school, Sarah encountered a mentally ill person who stabbed her three times. Her abdomen was pierced by a sharp knife, and she is in great danger."
"Dr. Harris said that if the surgery is not performed within two hours, she will die!"
When I received a phone call informing me to go to the hospital, Sarah, in a hospital bed, was being taken to the operating room.
She was covered in blood, which really shocked me.
Thinking back on this, I still felt fear.
Perhaps I had a very terrible expression of fear on my face.
The sarcasm on Jade's face subsided a bit. After three years of marriage, she knew very well what kind of person I was.
But Bryce sneered.
"Zane, don't be so ridiculous. Sarah was stabbed, and the hospital should have notified Jade first."
"The police didn't arrive at the scene? They didn't even call Jade? Are you more important than Jade?"
"I know you don't want Jade to see me, but Jade and I are already over. You don't have to follow her and lie to her."
"Jade is a person. She needs her own social space. Are you a pervert who wants to control her for a lifetime?"
After he twisted my words, Jade, who believed me for a minute just now, looked even more indifferent.
I was filled with anger, almost spitting out blood.
I couldn't help but roar at Bryce, "Shut up!"
Then I looked at Jade. "The police and the hospital have called you, but your phone has been turned off. Now turn it on and check the messages."
Naturally, the police and the hospital would notify Jade first, but they couldn't reach her by phone. Thanks to that hotel booking message, I was able to find her here.
Jade's face softened for a moment. She took out her phone and indeed it was out of battery.
She charged it and turned it on after a few minutes, but there were no missed calls.
Jade raised her phone and coldly questioned, "No missed calls. No messages. Zane, you are absolutely insane!"
...
Bryce leaned closer to her, feeling aggrieved.
"Jade, calm down. Zane loves you too much, so he wants to control you."
I didn't understand why Jade didn't receive any messages or missed calls from me.
But I was sure I called her.
Perhaps they were deleted by someone.
I gave Bryce a fierce stare, and he shrank back.
I met Jade's mocking gaze and took out my phone to call Dr. Harris.
"You and Dr. Harris were classmates in college, so you should trust what she says!"
I moved my cold fingers and dialed Dr. Harris' number.
But Jade snatched the phone from me and smashed it on the ground, shattering it into pieces.
"Zane, that's enough!"
"I was just treating Bryce's wound in a hotel room, but you followed me here and cursed my mom. Do you have any idea how good she has been to you all these years? How ungrateful you are!"
"Bryce has been working hard in another city, and now he wants to go back to his hometown. I'm just helping out as an old classmate."
"You have no idea how many hardships he's gone through, but you're suspicious and causing a scene at the hotel. Do you have no manners?"
I was so angry that my chest was heaving and I couldn't breathe properly.
But now was not the time to argue.
I suppressed my overwhelming anger and looked at Jade pleadingly.
"Your mom is really in the hospital now. If your phone is turned on, just call Dr. Harris and she can prove it."
"There are only two hours left. Please go to the hospital with me. If you find out that I'm lying, you can divorce me!"
My voice choked and my eyes turned red.
Jade looked at me and inexplicably took out her phone, about to dial a number.
But before she could make the call, Bryce next to her shouted, "Jade, the agent sent me a message saying that there is a cheap fully furnished house for urgent sale, with a discount of 8,500 dollars!"
...
Then he looked at Jade with a shy expression and gratefully said, "If it weren't for your connections, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get such a favorable price. Can I treat you to a meal after we finish looking at the house?"
...
Jade avoided Bryce's gaze and nodded shyly.
"Zane, you can come with us," Bryce said smugly.
...
Ignoring his words, I held Jade's hand and pleaded desperately, "Sarah is waiting for you to save her life. She is your mom. After your father divorced her, she supported you all the way and helped you become a skilled surgeon. You can't watch her die."
...
Bryce, who was only thinking about the cheap house, urged Jade.
"Jade, the agent is already here. If we delay too long, the house will be sold."
Recalling Sarah's kindness towards me, I gritted my teeth and knelt in front of the two of them.
"Jade, I'm begging you. Please go to the hospital and save her. She is really in critical condition. Only you can save her."
