Devil Ex-husband, Please Stay Away From Me!
Chapter 4
I looked up at the dim glow of the phone screen. Ryan’s expression was as stern and unyielding as ever, his eyes fixed on Reina. When he wasn’t smiling, he could look quite intimidating. I used to fear that look, but over time, I had grown accustomed to it, resigning myself to his anger and enduring his harshness.
Ryan, however, only seemed to intensify his disdain for me.
Reina, clearly unsettled by his mood, stammered, “I…I was just…”
“Has she replied to you?” Ryan interrupted.
Reina’s face fell. “No.”
Ryan scoffed. “She’s always been dramatic.”
He seemed indifferent to Reina’s taunts, focused solely on his disdain for me as if everything were my fault.
It felt as though a heart that no longer beat was being cut open anew, the pain unbearable. I watched as Ryan turned away, pulling out his phone to send me messages, his tone as condescending as ever.
[If you’ve had enough of making a scene, come back. Temper tantrums have their limits. There are plenty of women who love me. Keep this up, and we’re done!]
[I don’t need a disobedient girlfriend like you.]
It was almost laughable. At this moment, he still thought I was merely throwing a tantrum. If he had cared even a little, if he had called me, he would have discovered that my phone had long been turned off. If he had been more attentive, he might have listened to me during the accident…
That night, he still didn’t receive any news from me.
The next morning, the stillness of the room was broken by the TV blaring in the background. Ryan, visibly agitated, paced back and forth, clutching his phone, while Reina tried to comfort him from behind but was easily brushed off.
Reina's face showed concern. “Still no word from Yolia? She must be really upset. Maybe you should call her and try to make things right?”
Ryan's expression darkened. “Why should I? If she doesn’t want to talk to me or come back, she might as well stay out there…”
[At 5 PM yesterday, a serious accident occurred in our city. A large truck collided with a small sedan…]
Ryan's attention snapped to the TV as the news broadcast showed footage of my accident. The mangled wreckage of my car was unmistakable…
His eyes were locked on the screen, a cold stillness in his gaze. The phone’s ring shattered the odd quiet of the room. I stood silently as Ryan picked up.
“Is this a relative of Yolia Hayes? We’re calling from the police department…”
“Yesterday, she was involved in a severe car accident. Firefighters managed to extract her before the vehicle exploded, but unfortunately, Miss Hayes passed away on the way to the hospital…”
