Chapter 2

"Stop the boat. Go ask her if she's learned her lesson and knows what she did wrong. If she admits her mistake, pull her back on board."

Liam replied coldly.

The assistant hurried to carry out the order.

With no one around, Liam glanced at Fiona beside him, suddenly unable to control his desire, and leaned closer.

Fiona lightly licked her lips and leaned in too, but the next second, she deliberately pushed Liam away and seriously said, "Liam, we can't do this. It would be disrespectful to Rachel.

"I don't want you to be called a cheater."

This was her usual tactic.

I'd seen it too many times—playing hard to get to make him more interested. Actually, Liam was just one of her men.

But Liam believed he was the only one, so he hurriedly pledged his loyalty to Fiona. "Fiona, you're so considerate. You're going to make me cry.

"Don't worry. As soon as we sort out the assets, I'll divorce Rachel. Then we can be together openly."

He puffed out his chest and made a firm promise.

I let out a bitter laugh, recalling the promises Liam made to me when we got engaged.

"Rachel. I swear, I'll love you forever. May we walk hand in hand through every winter and spring, from youth to old age."

Back then, Liam was so affectionate and sincere.

I believed him completely.

Little did I know it was all lies. Once Fiona re-entered Liam's life, everything changed.

The vows that once sounded so sweet now seem like mockery of how things turned out.

"Liam, divorce is a big decision. You shouldn't act impulsively—you need to think it through."

Fiona appeared to be advising him, but deep down, her eyes were full of smugness and amusement.

Ever since Fiona found out I married Liam, she'd been targeting me and provoking me constantly.

She knew I was allergic to mango, yet she purposely gave me a cake with mango in it, pretending she didn't know.

I ended up in the hospital with an allergic reaction.

Afterwards, she tearfully apologized to Liam, but instead of getting blamed, she got a Hermès bag as compensation.

When she found out Liam had bought me a perfume, she nagged him into buying her ten bottles. Then she posted on social media, openly thanking "Rachel's husband."

Or like today, even though I was the captain in charge of steering the boat, she insisted on playing around with it.

I refused, so she called Liam and had me scolded.

In the end, I had no choice but to agree.

She nearly caused a disaster, recklessly operating the boat until it was almost out of control.

When she had no solution, her face turned pale, she was drenched in sweat, and she collapsed on the ground, nearly wetting herself.

I managed to avert the danger with great effort, but I couldn't hold back my anger and shouted at her, "Get out of here!"

Unfortunately, Liam arrived just in time to hear it.

Fiona immediately threw herself into Liam's arms, crying like a helpless kitten, seeking comfort.

Without saying a word, Liam assumed I had scared her by driving recklessly and shoved me hard to the ground.

"Rachel! You've gone too far!

"Fiona was just curious, wanting to play around a little. She didn't do anything wrong, so why are you scaring her and losing your temper? Don't you know Fiona has a heart condition?"

I tried to explain what had really happened.

But Liam wouldn't listen and even slapped me, continuing to curse at me.

"Don't think I don't know what you're up to. Rachel, you're so vicious!

"I'll make sure you learn your lesson today.

"Tie Rachel to the back of the boat and drag her!"

His eyes were wide open like he wanted to tear me apart.

Seeing that explaining was useless, I could only beg. "Liam, you don't have to believe me, but please think about our child, okay?"

To prove I wasn't lying, I shakily took out my pregnancy report from the hospital.

But Liam ripped it to shreds, calling me a liar.

From beginning to end, Fiona didn't say a word to help me.

Instead, she kept smirking, enjoying the show.

"Mr... Mr. Johnson... we've pulled her up..."

Just as Liam and Fiona were feeding each other fruit, the assistant returned, pale-faced, followed by two bodyguards holding a blanket.

I assumed it was my broken body in that blanket.
