Broken Love, Broken Trust
Chapter 2

By the time I finished trying on dresses, styling my hair, and doing my makeup, it was already 7 o'clock in the evening.
Wearing a white dress and heels, I walked into a VIP private room in a high-end hotel while holding the arm of Hector, who was wearing a black suit.
He had already arranged everything in the private room.
The orange warm lights were faint, and there were white candles burning on the table, with two wine glasses filled with red wine next to them.
The floor was covered with rose petals.
Hector came forward to pull out the chair for me, and only after serving me did he sit opposite me.
Actually, the hotel private room he chose was quite nice. The walls were glass, and through the glass, one could see various views upstairs.
Hector was a big star, and he had to look good for the cameras at all times, so he dared not eat too much of a grand meal.
He only ordered two steaks and a vegetable salad.
Yet given today was my birthday, he had a two-and-a-half-inch cake specially made for me.
After finishing the steaks, Hector lit a candle on the cake and asked me to make wishes.
I closed my eyes and silently made three wishes.
One wish lasted for ten seconds.
But when I opened my eyes, I found that Hector wasn't looking at me. He was looking at the screen of his phone and smiling.
"What are you looking at?" I reached out to grab the phone from Hector's hand, but to my surprise, he dodged.
He smiled and said to me, "Nothing. Just a funny text recommended by a public account.
"Well? What did my baby just wish for?"
I didn't doubt what he said. I lowered my head shyly.
Then I said in a coquettish voice, "I won't tell you. Birthday wishes don't work if they're told."
I picked up the fork on the table and wanted to search for a ring in the cake.
Hector's phone suddenly rang.
After he glanced at the phone, he looked up and said, "Baby, I have some work to deal with. You might have to take a taxi home later."
"What's the matter? I didn't remember getting you any job to do today. Oh, but you do have a magazine shoot tomorrow." I scooped up a piece of cake and stuffed it into my mouth.
"Well, recently we took on a TV drama, right? I'm the male lead, and the director wants me to go over and practice the lines."
What he said about the TV drama was true.
Since it was the director who wanted to see him, it was important.
"Then I'll go with you. I'm your agent, and I should tag along..." I said as I packed up, wanting to leave with him.
But what surprised me was that Hector held my hand and said to me, "No need. Today is your birthday. Take a day off."
Before I could speak, Hector gently kissed my forehead.
Then he closed the curtains, made a heart gesture to me, and left.

I looked at his back and shook my head helplessly.
Then I wanted to continue to find a ring in the cake, but when I glanced to the side, I found that Hector had forgotten his phone.
"Hector, your phone..." I immediately took his phone, put on my coat, and chased after him.
Knowing him well, I assumed that he must have left through the back door because there were a lot of paparazzi waiting for him at the front of the hotel.
So, I went through the back door of the hotel, but unfortunately, I didn't catch up with Hector.
I saw him hail a taxi and leave.
Anxious, I also immediately hailed a taxi and followed him.
"Sir, could you please follow the red taxi in front of us..." I pointed ahead.
The driver smiled and said, "What's wrong, Ma'am? Is your boyfriend cheating on you? You're going to catch him in the act?"
Hearing what the driver said, I immediately became serious and waved my hand, saying, "No, It's nothing like that. My boyfriend forgot his phone, so I'm bringing it to him."
The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror and half-jokingly said, "Ma'am, you should love yourself more. You shouldn't trust men too much."
I didn't really understand what he meant at that time.
When I looked out the window, I realized that this wasn't the way to the director's house or the hotel.
Finally, the taxi Hector took stopped in front of a villa.
From a distance, I saw Hector get out of the car and glance to the side as if checking if there were any paparazzi secretly taking pictures nearby.
After confirming that there was no one around, Hector walked into the villa.
After Hector entered the villa, I also got out of the taxi. After I paid the fare, the driver drove away.
