Chapter 4

The moment she heard my words, her face darkened—but she quickly covered it with a cold, bitter laugh.

“Give it to me? He liked me first! You’re the one who stole everything that should’ve been mine.”

Seeing her so angry, I raised my eyes and looked directly at her.

“Stole? You fished for James for so long and in the end, you were the one who ran off to another man overseas.”

“Now that he doesn’t want you anymore, you come running back to meddle in someone else’s family.”

Her expression twisted instantly. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Whether it’s true or not, you know the answer. I don’t really care. But if you miss this chance, you won’t get another.”

Back when Natalie first reappeared, I had a feeling something wasn’t right, so I quietly started investigating.

But before I could confront James with the truth, my son was murdered.

Natalie narrowed her eyes and sneered.

“I didn’t think a stupid woman like you would actually dig that far. But even if I did all that—so what? James said the person he loved from the beginning to the end was me.”

A sharp pain lanced through my heart. I’d known it deep down, ever since Samuel died.

I didn’t want to argue anymore.

“Just answer me—yes or no?”

Natalie’s expression slowly twisted into a smug grin.

“If you really want a divorce, why don’t you tell him yourself? Why are you setting a trap and waiting for me to do it? Unless... you know something?”

Her tone dropped coldly with those last words.

I replied calmly, “I want a divorce because of my son.”

“The Klawn Family has always buried their dead in the family cemetery. But I don’t want my son locked away in there—”

Not next to the woman who helped kill him. My heart echoes.

“I want to burried him where I want to. But I know James would never allow it.”

That was the real reason I needed to leave.

Natalie finally believed me.

When she saw the name I’d signed at the bottom of the agreement, a victorious smirk crept across her lips.

“Fine. I’ll do it.”

Not long after, I received the divorce agreement—James’s signature on the dotted line.

Just like that, the relationship that had lasted nearly seven years was over.

I stared at the document in a daze.

Then, with a clear head, I sent the video evidence to a friend at the news agency.

I told them to schedule the story for release in exactly seven days.

After that, I booked a one-way flight overseas.

The departure date—also in seven days.

James knew none of this.

At our son’s memorial, he gently took my hand, his voice soft with affection.

“Amy, you’ve been here day and night. You must be exhausted. Let me take over today.”

His mother chimed in too.

“You don’t look well, dear. Go home and rest.”

I stared at the photograph of my son—his small gray face forever frozen in time—and shook my head.

“No.

Today’s the last day.

I want to stay with him a little longer.”

Seeing how firm I was, James sighed helplessly and leaned in to kiss my forehead.

“Alright. I’ll get some work done and come back to be with you later.”

As he walked away, I watched his retreating back with a bitter smile.

Work? Or was he going to meet Natalie again?

From the window, I saw his car parked out front. He didn’t drive off right away.

Moments later, Natalie slipped inside.

The car sped off.

My vision dimmed. My heart, already in ruins, turned completely to ash.

That night, James returned. I was still kneeling at the altar.

Halfway through, I stood up and went to the restroom.

But when I came back… I heard a voice echoing from the hall.

Natalie.

“James, let me give you a son too, okay?”

She was pressing his hand to her stomach, draping herself over him like a snake.

“You know how much I want to carry your child.”

James grasped her hand, panting as he lifted her into his arms.

“Baby, let’s go to the bedroom right now. You can have as many as you want.”

Natalie let out a low, seductive laugh.

“But I just want it to be here... okay?”
