His voice wavered.

“No... this is Samuel’s memorial hall.”

Natalie coiled her arms around his neck and whispered seductively, “That’s what makes it exciting. Don’t you want to?”

James was already breathing heavily—and moments later, their moans echoed through the solemn space.

I stood frozen in the distance, watching it unfold with my own eyes.

My fingernails dug so hard into my palms they nearly drew blood.

This was my son’s memorial.

I forced myself to stay calm, raised my phone with trembling hands and recorded the entire scene.

If they could be this shameless, then I wouldn’t let them walk away without consequences.

The next day, after Samuel’s body was burried, in the afternoon I once again visited my son, to showed his favorite things that he left before he was kidnapped.

But then just as I turned to leave, Natalie appeared.

She stared at me sharply.

“Amy, James’s already upset. Please, just apologize. Don’t go against him.”

My vision blurred with tears. I glared at her.

“You promised me. You said if I divorced him, you wouldn’t say anything. You promised!”

Hearing the word divorce, James froze.

“Who divorced? What divorce?!”

I curled my lips into a bitter smile.

“No matter what, I’m just visiting Samuel today.”

His face darkened.

People around us began murmuring, trying to calm the situation.

“She should stop making a big deal out of the child’s death. Their child deserves rest in peace.”

I let out a cold, empty laugh.

The wooden box shattered against the ground—Samuel’s music box. His most favorite thing that I’ve given him since he was two years old. It was all now breaking into pieces.

My chest caved in with the weight of it.

I dropped to my knees, legs collapsing beneath me.

I clawed desperately at the floor, trembling hands trying to gather what little was left of my son's memories.

“No... no... I just wanted to take this with me… How did everything turn into this?!”

Tears poured down my cheeks, my heart split into a thousand pieces—and then I felt a foot slam down on my arm.

Natalie stood over me, her eyes gleaming with false concern.
