Chapter 2

Two days ago, David had a business trip.

He's a mid-level manager at the company, and I used to accompany him as his little employee and girlfriend on these trips.

But ever since Cindy became his secretary, their relationship grew closer.

This time, he wanted Cindy to accompany him on the trip. I disagreed, and we had a big fight.

But in the end, Cindy still went with him on the trip to the south, while I stayed behind to handle his paperwork.

Over the years, we supported each other step by step, but ever since Cindy came into the picture, we've been constantly fighting.

David claimed that he and Cindy were purely colleagues, saying everyone at the company knew about it and urged me not to get jealous, as it would reflect poorly on the company.

He spoke with such righteousness that I would always feel guilty, and end up being the one to apologize first, soothing him with a soft voice.

Seeing me admit my fault, David wouldn't press further. Instead, he'd buy me gifts and flowers, apologizing that he had neglected me and made me jealous.

Every time he did this, all my doubts and unhappiness would vanish.

But after comforting me, he'd still be all over Cindy, and when we fought again, he would simply accuse me of being unreasonable.

I met him at the company, and step by step, I helped him rise to his current position. His achievements today are inseparable from my support.

Yet, when it came to this business trip, he chose Cindy to accompany him.

How long has Cindy been here? What does she even know?

What David values isn't her capability — it must be something else.

Looking at that intimate photo, I couldn't help but feel my heart grow cold.
