An Ungrateful Man Is Not Worth It

During a tense dinner with coworkers, a spilled glass of wine leads to an intimate moment between David Green and his secretary. As David rushes to wipe her wet stockings, all eyes turn to his fiancée, expecting a dramatic scene. Instead of tears, she offers a calm, smiling declaration: since their marriage isn't legally registered yet, they can end their relationship immediately. Chapter 3

Three days later, David returned.

Seeing the documents neatly handled on the table, he nodded in satisfaction and lifted a bag of something, speaking to me with concern.

"Nina, this is something Cindy asked me to buy for you. It's good for people who stay up late. You should try some."

In the past, I might have been touched by his concern, even waving it off with a smile, saying I wasn't tired at all.

But now, how could it possibly stir any emotions in me?

I motioned for him to leave it aside and picked up a document, my voice icy.

"Mr. Green, we have a meeting with the White Group tomorrow afternoon at three. Please take a look."

Seeing my reaction, David's concern faded as well. He casually took the report and looked through it before speaking nonchalantly.

"Nina, you've been so exhausted lately. Why don't you rest tomorrow afternoon and let Cindy go with me instead?"

Hearing this, my expression grew even colder.

This project has been mainly handled by me, with only the final signatures left, yet David wanted Cindy to go, didn't he?

Did he really think I was that naive?

"Mr. Green, this project is far too important to leave to chance. Cindy hasn't been here long, so I'm not comfortable with her going."

Seeing my displeasure, David didn't press further and gently reassured me.

"I was overthinking it. Once this project is done, I'll take you on a trip to relax."

I didn't object. After all, I had been worn out recently and could use a break afterward.
