Chapter 2

Yolia’s POV

From nothingness, I regained consciousness again. This time however, I could not feel the air, I could not feel the sun on my skin. I did not feel anything, even the ground beneath my feet. It was just hollow, emptiness.

I was dead and my hovering spirit was all that was left. I could move freely, anywhere I wanted to go and the first place that came to my mind was the Alpha’s office.

I flew there and saw him seated on his chair, well relaxed, with Reina.

He laid back on his comfortable couch, eyes closed with feet stretched out. Reina was opposite him, massaging his feet as she helped him relax.

I widened my eyes.

“This is what you were doing when I called and you calmed down, you were busy?!” I yelled out.

Renie had been getting on my nerves for a while now and I finally decided to put and end to it, moving to her at once to push her down.

However, I passed through her to the other side. I remembered I was a ghost now. All I could do was watch because they could neither hear nor see me.

I became restless, not knowing what to do. I did not think this low of him. How could he spend the day with Renie while I died on the road?

I knew he did not regard or rate me, but I did not know it was this bad.

He sat there with a slight frown on his face. One could see it even though his eyes were closed.

“You don’t have to be upset anymore.” Reina said to him. “Why won’t I be?” Alpha Ryan replied. “She never lets me be. Why does she have to be so clingy all the time?” He added.

“I know her call interrupted the massage session, but we are back to it. You shouldn’t let anything bother you. Remember we have a ball at night, and you will be the main character there.” She said softly.

Renie always has a pleasing way of saying things to win people over. She was like an orator, who could sweep the feets of people with her words. I know that is what she was doing to the Alpha, manipulating him and bending him to her will.

I could feel Alpha Ryan get absolutely relieved by her words as he calmed down.

After the foot massage, she went over his shoulders and his chest. I could not believe my eyes. He had never been this calm towards me. All I needed was 5 minutes of body contact with him and he would call me clingy. This was a totally different Ryan.

I stood there, tears in my eyes watching as it approached evening. Alpha Ryan was growing restless, checking his time continuously.

I know he was expecting me because we were supposed to go to the ball together.

Few minutes later, Reine came back into the office.

“Alpha. Are you still here?” She asked him. “Aren’t you supposed to be on your way to the ball already?” She asked again.

“Yolia isn’t here yet.” He said furiously. “She was supposed to be here in the afternoon.” He complained.

“Have you tried calling?”

“Calling, mindlinking, everything and still, no response from her.”

Renie came closer to him and touched him softly on the shoulder. “Maybe she’s angry because you didn’t hear what she had to say when she mind linked you and she wants to use this as pay back.” Renie told him.

“For real?!”

I was fuming from within. She was trying to make me a bad person. If only they knew what had actually happened.

“She will surely have a score to settle with me when we get home.” He said.

“What will you do now that you have no one to go with?” She asked him. “You know I’m free for the evening, right?” She added.

Ryan sized up with his eyes. “You’re not dressed properly.” He said to her.

“I can get a dress as soon as possible if you say yes.”

With that, Alpha Ryan agreed to have her come along and she sprinted out of the office, getting a dress so fast, she could be compared to a fictional speed character.

She came back dressed in a very revealing dress, one that made Ryan stare in lust. She did everything in her power to make sure he was constantly seduced by her.

On their way to the ball, Beta Milo walked to them. “My Alpha, have you heard about the rogue attack that happened earlier today?” He asked.

Finally, he was going to know about my attack. I waited for him to find out for so long.

“Beta Milo!” Renie cut in swiftly. “You know the Alpha has a ball to attend to and he has to be in a perfect state of mind. Why don’t you wait till later.” She advised me.

“It’s okay, I can handle it.” Ryan said.

“No you can’t. There are people who need impressing at the ball and any sense of uncertainty will turn them off. Besides, I am sure your efficient security team is working on it.” She was further persuaded.

As usual, she won against them. “why don’t we talk about it later?” Alpha Ryan told Beta Milo.

Milo had no other option but to nod and leave.

I was disappointed bevause I really wanted to see his reaction when he found out I was dead.

Together, the two went to the ball. Ryan had so much to drink that he became drunk. Renie had to help him to our door.

“Yolia, please come open the door!” She called out as she knocked. I wish I could do so, but I could not. Normally, with the first knock I would be running downstairs. Before the second, I would open the door already, but this wasn’t the case today and it was shocking to them.

“Why isn’t she out yet!” Alpha Ryan asked, looking pissed.

“She’s probably still trying to hurt you.” Renie said.

Anytime she tried to make me look bad, I cringed. Unfortunately, I did not have the power to defend myself anymore. All I could do was watch.

The most annoying thing was that Ryan always believed everything she said.

Growing tired of the wait, Ryan finally took out his keys and unlocked the door.

His voice echoed. “Yolia, better come explain your childish behavior before I do something you’ll regret!”

But immediately after saying this, he came to the realization that the house was pitch dark and devoid of any soul. His next words were stuck in his throat.
