Chapter 2

After commenting on Jessie's Instagram, I knew that this marriage was doomed.

The last time I argued with Ethan over Jessie, he stayed in the dormitory for over two weeks without coming home.

In the end, I couldn't stand the cold war and went to the school to apologize and reconcile, and he reluctantly forgave me.

Over the past three years, I gradually got used to this way of interacting with him.

After Jessie became Ethan's graduate student, he was no longer content to be a kite in my hands.

Instead, I, who was always worried and anxious, became the one controlled and dominated by him.

In order to solidify our relationship, I exerted all my effort to get pregnant with this child.

However, in the end, it turned out to be a defeat with his death and my injury.

After sending the divorce agreement to Ethan, I felt more relaxed than ever before.

However, I was awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of someone opening the door.

I became instantly alert and opened the door, only to see Ethan returning, with someone on his back.

It was Jessie.

"Ms. Taylor, I accidentally sprained my foot when I just got off the plane. Mr. Davis was worried about me staying alone in a hotel, so he asked me to come and stay at his place. I hope you don't mind."

At that moment, I suddenly remembered that something was off when Jessie answered my call.

She called my home "his place"!

She called Ethan "Mr. Davis", and called me "Ms. Taylor" instead of "Mrs. Davis".

She was claiming her territory!

Seemingly afraid that I couldn't see their intimacy, Jessie hugged Ethan's arm even tighter, her face almost touching his.

However, Ethan's face showed no sign of unease.

Did he know that we were going to divorce, so he didn't even bother pretending anymore and couldn't wait to bring Jessie home and show off their love?

Ethan looked slightly guilty as he met my gaze.

He then pushed Jessie's suitcase towards me and said, "Go and get her settled in the guest room, and help her take a bath later!"

I couldn't help but laugh. Is he treating me like a maid?

"You can keep this good job for yourself!"

Ethan looked impatiently at me and said, "Are you serious?"

Ethan gave me no chance to refuse. After gently putting Jessie on the sofa, he began rummaging through the cupboards.

He was so anxious that sweat beads appeared on his forehead, unable to find anything.

"There's no medicine at home, you might as well take her to the hospital," I said, although I had looked at her feet several times and couldn't find any redness or swelling.

I just didn't want to see those two showing up to bother me.

Ethan wiped the sweat from his forehead and scowled at me, "Why didn't you say it earlier? And you made me look for it for a long time."

When Ethan, who rarely listened to me, said he was going to take Jessie to the hospital, she refused.

"Mr. Davis, it's too late at night. You insisted on taking me to the hospital last time I had my period, and it turned out to be a joke..."

I didn't know if it was intentional or if she was really embarrassed, but her face turned red as she mentioned it.

Only I stood aside, feeling cold all over.

So, he fought with me over a female student's menstrual cramps for the only doctor who could save my son's life?

After that, the two of them went on a romantic graduation trip together!

Back in the day, I would probably have rushed to the kitchen to grab a knife and kill them.

But I calmly told Ethan, "Her body is precious. You'd better take care of her."

My sincere suggestion made Ethan's hand tremble as he put down the car keys.

"Cora, what are you doing at this ungodly hour? Why are you making things difficult for a little girl?"

Making things difficult?

Apparently, after love fades away, whether I was calm and composed or crying and raging, it would only annoy him.

He probably didn't know that the "little girl" he was talking about was only six years younger than me.

But I didn't want to argue with him.

"If you think that, there's nothing I can do."

I turned away coldly and went back to my room.

Compared to the pain of my son's death in the womb and the despair of hope being crushed by Ethan again and again, I wouldn't care even if he had sex with Jessie in front of me.

But Ethan was angered by my attitude.
