Chapter 1

I pushed my boyfriend whom I had been in love with for nine years, out of the fire. He was a firefighter.

He escaped death, but my hands were broken by a falling beam and I could no longer paint.

He got down on one knee and promised to take care of me for the rest of his life.

In front of everyone, I threw away his proposal ring and said expressionlessly, "Get lost."

He did not take it seriously and said, “It's normal for her personality to change drastically after a major trauma. She is now an orphan with disabled hands. I am her last resort. She is just playing hard to get now."

I sneered coldly. “Idiot.”

In my previous life, I agreed to his proposal, but suddenly a girl came up, claiming that she was disfigured because she was not rescued in time.

My boyfriend took care of her in every way and even brought her into our house.

I expressed my dissatisfaction and my boyfriend secretly gave me a large amount of sleeping pills while I was pregnant, then caused an accidental fire with his own hands.

Before he died, I heard him say, "It's all her fault for pushing me out on her own initiative. Otherwise, I would have rescued you from the fire long ago. How could I bear to let you get hurt?"

The girl shyly hid in his arms and I died without closing my eyes.

When I opened my eyes again, time took me back to the day he proposed to me ....

My name was Serena Lincoln. When I woke up, my hands were wrapped in thick gauze and my ears were filled with noisy voices of concern and murmur.

"Serena is so brave. If she hadn't pushed Charles out, it would have been him who got hit by the beam."

"If Charles had been hit by the beam while he was standing, he would have been paralyzed. He was lucky to have the brave and kind-hearted girl like Serena."

My boyfriend named Charles Roberts, whom people were talking about, was very impatient. "You're not the parties involved, why are you talking nonsense? If it weren't for Serena delaying me, I could have saved a few more people."

No one responded to his words, but he became more and more excited as he spoke, "You all don't know. At that time, I was planning to go back to save a girl in the next room, but because of Serena's self-righteousness, the girl was burned and disfigured!"

"Since I have chosen to be a firefighter, I am not afraid of accidents and death. Serena is foolish, are you the same?"

I snorted coldly and Charles suddenly became furious, pointing at me and yelling. "If you hadn't acted on your own, you wouldn't have gotten hurt. You deserve this fate. It's all your own fault."

Charles' words were so harsh that even his comrades could not stand it and started to advise him.

"Charles, please don't get it wrong. Serena must be very chaotic and worried about you. You know how much she values you. She's already hurt, so you should thank her."

"Yeah, she also got hurt protecting you, so please don't say those harsh words."

Charles frowned. It was obvious that he had taken these people's words as a means for me to repay their kindness, but I never said a word from beginning to end.

The atmosphere was tense for a long time before he finally loosened his collar and took out a simple plain ring from his pocket.

"I know your wish is to marry me. Now, as you wish, I will be your husband for the rest of my life and I will always take care of you."

This ring looked too big at first glance, it was not even my size.

Furthermore, my hands were wrapped in gauze, where did he see that I could still wear the ring?

The people around started to cheer. "Marry him! Marry him!"

Charles always held his head high, believing that I would be eager to accept the proposal.

But I just lightly opened my lips and said, "Get lost."

The people who were cheering immediately fell silent. They dared not say a word.

Charles' face froze, then he seemed to have figured it out and said to his comrades nonchalantly,

“It's normal for her personality to change drastically after a major trauma. She is now an orphan with disabled hands. I am her last resort. She is just playing hard to get now."

"Idiot."

"What?"

I rolled my eyes and knocked his ring to the ground, then kicked it to an unknown corner.

"We're breaking up. Get out! Get out of my sight right now!"

Charles was angry, but before he could vent his anger, a nurse suddenly opened the ward door in a panic. "Not good, Mr. Roberts, that female student is crying and making a fuss to see you, otherwise she will jump from the 20th floor!"

Jumping off a building to commit suicide?

Still using the same tactics as in her previous life, Charles rushed out like an arrow from the bowstring.

She was like a kitten looking for its mother, it could not be left alone even for a moment.
