Chapter 3

After taking that slap, I stood up, clearly humiliated, and exclaimed, "What do you want from me? Logan fell off the cliff on his way to see you! You keep talking about strawberries—what strawberries? It's not even strawberry season! Even if it were, you could get them at any supermarket without needing to go up a mountain!"

What I said was the truth, but in my previous life, I had been too heartbroken to think it through.

I paused for a moment before continuing, "Besides, you and Mom never told me about her illness. If Logan didn't tell me, who would have?"

"I've already been willing to take the blame for Logan's death. What more do you want? Do you want me to die alongside him?"

As I spoke, I pushed past the crowd, pretending to head for a wall, crying out, "Logan, take your time on the road to the underworld; wait for me!"

Of course, Annie and Lilian wouldn't let me hit a wall. They still needed me to repay debts and help Annie with her treatment. Both of them were in a panic, and finally, Annie had to concede, "Yes, Logan had the accident because he was coming to see me. The fault is mine."

Lilian gritted her teeth and added, "Yes, it's our fault."

The relatives began to point fingers at Annie and Lilian, who couldn't even lift their heads in shame.

Finally, I calmed down. Wasn't this just moral coercion? Who couldn't do that?

Just as the funeral was halfway through, a lawyer in a suit appeared, holding some documents and asking, "May I ask who is Olivia Adams?"

Five:

Before I could respond, Annie and Lilian shouted, "Here! Here! Olivia Adams is here!"

They couldn't wait any longer.

The lawyer confirmed my identity and pulled out Logan's will. "According to Mr. Logan Carter's will, all his savings are left to you."

I lowered my head as I held the will. With such a meager amount, how couldn't I feel embarrassed? My pre-marital assets were far greater than this. I glanced at the entrance and saw a crowd of debt collectors waiting for me to sign so they could demand money.

Annie was getting impatient. "Olivia, hurry up and sign! Once you sign, Logan will be at ease."

Lilian nodded vigorously. "Yes, yes! Once you sign, we can continue the funeral."

But I shook my head. "I can't accept this. Logan's biggest concern before he died was definitely Mom and Lilian. I'm willing to give up Logan's inheritance so that Mom can receive treatment."

Before Annie and Lilian could object, I continued, "Moreover, while Logan was alive, nearly all his income went to support Mom and Lilian. I believe if he were still alive, he would want everything to go towards Mom's treatment."

The relatives couldn't help but give me a thumbs up. Feeling a bit shy, I signed to officially renounce my inheritance. According to the law, since Logan's debts weren't used for family living expenses, I was unaware of them. Therefore, by giving up the inheritance, I wouldn't have to shoulder his debts.

According to inheritance law, if I renounced my right to inherit, then the next in line would be Annie and Lilian. Naturally, they began to push each other away, neither wanting to accept it.

However, the creditors were impatient and barged in without waiting for them to sign.

"Logan owes so much money; you two must pay me back!"
