Chapter 2

"Munsey Lee, are you crazy?" Brian flashed and stood in front of Yola.

He was like an enraged lion protecting a lioness.

I said coldly, "Shouldn't she be beaten for irresponsibly accusing others?"

"Did I say something wrong? If your mother hadn't pretended to be sick and morally hijacked Brian, how could Brian agree to marry you?"

"Do you also think so?" I asked Brian, staring at him.

He fell into silence.

I already knew the answer from his evasive gaze.

Two months ago, my mother suddenly fainted from chest pain. Then she was sent to the hospital and diagnosed with advanced breast cancer that had spread to her brain, bones and other parts of the body, making surgery infeasible.

My mother's biggest wish was to see Brian and I get married and to see me be settled.

In order to fulfill my mother's wish, I begged Brian desperately, even kneeling on the ground to beg him regardless of my dignity, and only then did I get the wedding.

But he did not show up at the wedding.

Maybe in his heart, he had always looked down on my family.

Brian Lim had always been outstanding. He is the prince charming in the eyes of the public, handsome and wealthy.

Starting from university, he had been managing the family business, and directly became the CEO of Lim Group after graduation, taking the helm of a company with thousands of employees.

Our relationship started from a drowning incident. He was drowning in the sea and I saved him. After that, we naturally got together, and it had been three years.

He liked obedient women, so I had always been submissive to him, like a servant.

I used to think that he was just a stern CEO. But since Yola came back from abroad, I realized that he also has a softer side.

Yola could freely hug his arm, act coquettishly and joke with him in front of everyone, pout and scold him, and drive him to do things, and even just one call could make him rush to her house in his sleep.

Once I tried to act coquettishly like Yola, but in return I got ridiculed by Brian.

"Munsey, you make me feel disgusted."

I felt so ashamed at that time that I wished I could disappear.

After that, I never acted like that.

In the eyes of others, Yola and he were a couple.

As for me, I only had the empty title of "girlfriend".

I once doubted if he was only with me out of charity or reluctance because I saved him.

Looking at him, I was extremely disappointed and suddenly confused. What exactly attracted me to him in the first place?

Was it his money?

No, absolutely not. I didn’t know he was a CEO when I saved him.

During our relationship, he repeatedly offered to buy me a house and a car, but I always refused.

"Ah, my face is swollen, Brian..." Yola was full of grievances, with tears in her eyes. "You should stand up for me."

Brian caressed Yola's cheek lovingly, then turned around and angrily scolded me, "Do you still have any humanity? Why are you so cruel? You'd better apologize quickly."

"I will never apologize."

I raised my head stubbornly.

For many times, because of Yola he forced me to apologize.

I used to apologize because I still loved him and didn’t want to make him angry.

But now I had let it go and decided to break up.

There was no need to apologize at all.

"I'm giving you one last chance. Apologize!" He shouted.

"No way!" I glared at him furiously.

"If you don't apologize, I'll make you pay double." Yola gestured behind her.

Soon her two bodyguards rushed over and restrained my hands tightly.

"Apologize now, or I can't help you." Brian said coldly.

I sneered and shouted at Yola, "Hit me! If I scream, I were your child."

The two bodyguards were as strong as bears so I couldn't break free at all.

Yola rushed up to me in rage and slapped me a dozen times.

Blood was flowing from my nose and my lips were split, with blood dripping from them.

Yola stopped, gasping for breath.

"Does your hand hurt?" I mocked.

She sucked in a cold breath and looked at her redden palm, "It hurts so much!"

This kind of delicate and tender lady would hurt her own hands when hitting others.

"Munsey..." Brian called me with exasperation, with a look of pity in his eyes, "As long as you apologize to Yola, we could get married next week."

That's his character. Maybe he had mercy on me, but he mainly wanted to tame me.

He preferred obedient women.

I smiled, "You want me to apologize? Dream on."

"Besides, I don't care about marrying you."

"We've already broken up."

He was shocked, his face full of disbelief. This was the first time I disobeyed him. Meanwhile I was so resolute and courageous.

"Think it over before you speak." He said in a low voice with red eyes.

"I have thought it through clearly. If you want to hear it, I can say it again." I said sarcastically.

"Before speaking, think about your mother. Only my connections and wealth can save her." He threatened.

Thinking of my mother.

Thinking of my father.

I couldn't help crying out of grief. If he had attended the wedding on time, my mother wouldn't have left this world with regrets and grief.

My father wouldn't die following my mother because of a heart attack.

He thought I cried because I was scared.

"Crying won't solve the problem, so you should apologize to Yola right away."

"No matter how many times I have to say, I won't apologize! No way!" I gritted my teeth.

Brian was stunned.

He didn't understand what was wrong with me today and why I kept defying him.

"Brian, if she doesn't apologize today, this matter won't end." Yola glared at me viciously.

"I warn you that you'd better realize your errors." He said viciously.

"I won't change even if I suffer pains."

"Don't push me."

"I didn't push you. It's you who have been pushing me from the beginning."

"Fine, I'll see how long you can keep your mouth shut."

After saying that, he took out his phone and called his assistant.

To make sure I could hear clearly, he turned on the speakerphone.

"Zachary, cancel the expert consultation for Munsey's mother."

He looked smug and threatening, believing that I would eventually compromise and admit my mistake.

Zachary hesitated for a while before speaking.

"Mr. Lim, Miss Lee's mother passed away three days ago, on the day of your wedding."

After hearing this, his face suddenly turned panic-stricken and he was even in disbelief.

"Also, Miss Lee's father suffered a heart attack because he was angry that you didn't attend the wedding, and he also passed away on the wedding day."
