Chapter 2

The doctor had said that even if her hand healed, she would struggle to hold chopsticks.

But the other family had a powerful background.

In the end, they were merely given a verbal warning and ordered to pay compensation.

That night, I pried open the window and slipped out.

By the time my parents received the police report and rushed to the scene, the class bully was already lying dead at the front door.

I was covered in blood, nearly beaten to death by the bully’s family.

When I saw my parents arrive, I smiled and said, “He dared to hit my sister, so he died.”

They said I had bipolar disorder and sent me to a psychiatric hospital.

Over the next ten years, my sister visited me regularly.

She brought pastries and little gifts and she would sit and share the colorful stories of her life with me.

Most of the time, I couldn’t understand her happiness. But through the iron bars, she would hold my hand and say, “I’m happy just holding hands with my sister. You are too, right?”

Half a year ago, she visited me for the last time.

She looked worn out but forced a smile and said she was getting married, her fiancé would protect her the way I always had.

But I didn’t know then that he was the one who had hurt her the most.

He was the one who pushed her to her death.

“Dad, Mom,” I said quietly. “From today onward, I am Olivia.”

If anyone dared to hurt my sister, I would kill them all.

Mom dressed me in my sister’s clothes and tied my hair into the same low ponytail she always wore.

She even stuffed a small pillow under my shirt.

When she looked at me, she broke down in tears again.

At that moment, I must have looked exactly like my sister.

The doorbell rang.

It was Noah.

When he saw the expressions on my parents’ faces, a dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.

“Honey, why didn’t you answer my call? I came to pick you up.”

He smiled and wrapped his arm around my waist, clearly testing the waters.

“Dad, Mom. I was too busy yesterday and forgot to take Olivia to her prenatal checkup. She got angry and ran home.”

My father forced a smile and waved a hand.

“Hmm, I’ve already scolded her. Tell her not to throw tantrums.”

My mother, eyes red from crying, added,

“Noah, pregnancy is very hard on women. You need to be more considerate of her…”

Noah breathed a sigh of relief.

“Dad, Mom, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of Olivia.”

After a few more polite talk exchanges, he impatiently pulled me toward the door.

Mom hurried out behind us and clutched my hand, her gaze filled with a thousand unspoken words.

“Olivia, take care of yourself.”

I patted her hand and nodded.

Then I got into Noah’s car without looking back.

As soon as the car started moving, the smile vanished from his face.

“You’re smart not to tell your parents about this. Olivia, as long as you stay by my side and give birth to this child, I’ll keep my promise to protect you for life.”

“Otherwise, I don’t mind destroying you and the Riley Family. Understand?”

I said nothing. I simply raised my hand and gently stroked my stomach, lips curving into a silent smile.

Noah glanced at me, sighed and reached out to hold my hand.

“Olivia, forget about today, okay? I’ll make it up to you for the rest of my life. I promise.”

“Let’s have our own child next time and maybe two more, okay?”

I began to tremble, biting my lips to hold back any sound.

“It’s my fault. If you want to cry, go ahead, sweetheart.”

His voice grew softer, almost a whisper.

“As long as you give birth to my child with Ava and fulfill my final wish, I will cherish you for the rest of my life.”

My trembling worsened.

‘Noah, you probably won’t get that chance.’

Just as I was about to draw the dagger and end everything, his phone rang.

He answered the call, frowned and suddenly jerked the steering wheel, speeding off in the opposite direction.
