Chapter 3

When he opened the door, Silas looked furious.

"Elara! Are you sick? Why did you drive my car away for no reason? And you also stopped my card. Do you know that Zara and I were together this morning..."

"What happened with Zara?" I asked, following up on his words.

Silas realized that he had let the cat out of the bag and immediately changed his words.

"I know you're upset about being kicked out of the lab, but this is your fault."

"If you return the car now and pay Zara two million dollars as compensation, I will not bother with you about this matter."

I almost laughed out loud.

I asked Silas.

"Where were you last night?"

There was an obvious guilty look in Silas' eyes, but he still spoke stubbornly.

"It's in the lab. Didn't I tell you?"

But I took out the photo of him and Zara kissing passionately in the bar last night and shoved it in his face.

"Can experiments now be done in bars? Didn't have enough fun in the first half, so we moved to the Hilton Hotel for the second half?"

I was telling the truth, but Silas got so angry that he grabbed my phone and threw it to the ground.

"Elara, are you sick?

"You spend the whole day in the lab, looking unkempt and unfeminine. Why are you making a scene when I'm just having a couple of drinks with Zara?"

"If you continue like this, our engagement will have to be cancelled!"

"Then cancel it." I pressed my brow tiredly, but Silas's expression changed instantly after receiving a phone call.

He held my hand and said pleadingly.

"Elara, come with me to the hospital right now!"

But I shook his hand off.

"I'm not sick, why should I go to the hospital?"

"Also, you'd better pay me back as soon as possible for all the money you've spent on me over the years. I don't want to see you in court."

A dark meaning flashed in Silas' eyes, and the next second he spoke while wiping away his tears.

"It's Auntie! Auntie's doctor just called me and said she's dying!"

"Elara, I know you are angry with me, don't you even care about your own mother?"

Something happened to my mom?

Without caring about Silas, I drove to the hospital quickly.

He didn't even care when Silas shamelessly sat on it.

But when I rushed to the hospital and entered the ward Silas told me about, I found that the person lying on the bed was not my mother, but Zara.

When Zara saw Silas, her tears suddenly fell, and she threw herself into his arms and cried.

"Silas, where have you been?"

"I heard from the doctor that there are reporters everywhere. What if they find out that you and I were sent to the emergency room this morning? How can I face people in the future?"

Silas patted her back soothingly.

"It's okay. I've already arranged it. You can get up now and leave quietly through the back door."

"Elara, what are you still standing there for? Come over here and lie down!"

I didn't say anything because I glanced at Zara's medical records.

There are many foreign objects in the lower body that cannot be removed.

She and Silas really have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves.

Taking a deep breath, I rejected Silas' request.

"You didn't think of me when you were having fun, but you remember me now?"

"I'm sorry, but I won't be your scapegoat."

Silas held my hand.

"Elara, Zara is a girl who just graduated. She has never experienced this kind of thing. If it is really exposed, her life will be ruined!"

"You've been with me for so many years, it doesn't matter whether you are famous or not."

"At worst, once this matter is over, I'll register for marriage with you right away. Is that okay?"

After the failure of the marriage registration last time, I thought countless times about the scene where Silas would bring up this matter with me again.
