When True Love Returned, I Stepped Aside for the Mistress

For over a year, I lived a quiet lie, finding a fleeting sense of joy by masquerading under Lucy Willis's name during my marriage to Otto Grant. I always harbored a deep desire to confess the truth—to tell Otto that I was never the real Lucy—but the opportunity and the courage to speak up always eluded me. Chapter 1

On the first anniversary of my marriage to Otto Grant, Lucy Willis said it was time for me to make way for her.

Over the past year or so, I felt brief happiness by using her name.

During this time, I wished to tell Otto that I wasn't Lucy all along.

However, I had no courage or chance to do it.

As the cell phone on the dining table kept beeping, I knew it was Lucy sending me a message.

She had been messaging me non-stop since morning, showing that she couldn't wait any longer.

Yet, I wanted to finish this meal before leaving.

In my opinion, it seemed to be the last meal I cooked for Otto, so I hoped to make it well.

Unluckily, Lucy didn't give me the opportunity.

She called our fixed-line phone directly. When Anna handed me the phone, her eyes were full of worry.

It was because Lucy's tone on the other end of the phone was very bad. At that moment, she said to Anna, "Now, ask Mrs. Grant to answer the phone! Quick!"

Lucy was arrogant and impatient, but no one in the Grant family dared to talk to me like this.

In the family, Otto's elders and the servants all treated me with great respect, so Anna naturally felt a little worried.

I comforted her before walking aside to answer the phone.

After hearing my voice, Lucy on the other end of the phone spoke in a harsh tone. "You finally answer the phone. I sent you so many messages, and you didn't even reply! What do you mean? Are you unwilling to make way? Come out immediately, or I'll go in!"

I sighed helplessly and said, "Wait for me at No. 17 Nitealy Road in an hour."

After hanging up the phone, I just felt even more upset.

To be honest, I was unwilling to leave the place.

Yet, I knew I had to go.

Everything I had didn't belong to me.

It was time for me to make way.

There was only one dish left, so I went out with my phone after exchanging a few words with Anna.

I drove the car that Otto sent me and headed straight for Nitealy Road.

Half an hour later, I stopped in front of a building that I was very familiar with, for I had lived here for several years.

I once thought that I could escape from here and would never return to this place, but unexpectedly, I would still end up back where I started.

As expected, I should not have too many delusions about things that didn't belong to me. It seemed like I was too greedy.

A black limousine was parked at the corner of the building.

After parking my car, I walked straight towards it.

The moment I opened the passenger door of the black car, a strong scent of perfume hit me in the face.

I got into the car, rolled down the window, and frowned. "Otto doesn't like others wearing such strong perfume, you should be careful next time."

Sitting in the driver's seat, Lucy took off her black sunglasses and looked at me lazily, seeming a little angry. "Why don't you reply to my messages?"

I was silent for a moment, then answered, "Yesterday, Otto said that he wanted to eat the food I cooked. I was afraid that you couldn't cook, so I did it for you before I came out. Back then, I left my phone in the room, so I didn't hear it ring."

"Well." Lucy also opened her car window to get some fresh air. "Then hurry up and get ready. You've worked hard during this period, and it's your compensation."

The next moment, Lucy threw a bag of money at me.

Looking at the bag of money, I was a little dazed. I didn't want to accept it, but I had to.

I needed this money.
