When the First Love Returned, I Died

After dealing with the company's matters, I dragged my exhausted body back home. I didn't have dinner, but I didn't seem to feel hungry. But the headaches became more frequent.

I threw myself onto the sofa. Suddenly, the lights blazed brightly, startling me.

"Violet, how have you let yourself become like this?" Leon's words were laden with disgust and aversion.

I knew I must have looked terrible lately, with a sallow complexion and sunken eye sockets. I didn't even have the energy to dress up anymore.

"Leon... you're finally back." I dared not, nor did I want to ask why he had promised to come back yesterday but didn't.

"What do you want from me?" Leon, dressed in a sharp suit, glanced at the wall clock, clearly ready to leave immediately after speaking.

"It's so late. Are you still going out? Have you had dinner?"

There was no response.

I paused for a moment. "Withe is facing some financial issues. I wanted to ask if you could help."

The living room lights were too harsh, making my head spin. I could only sit on the sofa, looking at him, trying to maintain my balance.

"Withe is yours. I gave it to you. I have no responsibility or obligation to help you. You are the legal representative of Withe."

He spoke so indifferently and then walked out.

I wanted to explain more urgently, but Leon had already reached the door and closed it mercilessly.

In Leon's eyes, Withe is a charity to me, an item he has discarded. How could he possibly spend money to save it? Moreover, he had more important things to do.

But it's Withe, our only child; it's the only result of your efforts when you were penniless; it's the only gift you gave me when we got married; it's the testament to the love I thought we had.

I rushed out in a hurry to find it was snowing. With the endless darkness accompanied by the howling wind, it was as if there were demons around, but I didn't have time to be afraid.

Before I could take a few steps, I suddenly felt dizzy. As I staggered and was about to fall, I suddenly felt a pair of broad hands gently support me. I seemed to hear someone anxiously calling my name, and then I completely lost consciousness.
