When My Ex Found Out My Secret
Chapter 1
If I could be the wife of Wallace Collins, an overbearing boss, for three years, I could get 100 thousand houses in the downtown area.
To prevent Wallace from divorcing me, I polished shoes for his mistress.
I even changed diapers and found a kindergarten for his illegitimate child. Those were common tasks for me.
It was the coldest time of the year. I was still outside just because his mistress wanted to eat the cake that was sold in the shop 18 miles away.
My phone rang, it was Wallace, my husband.
He asked me to get to his office within 30 minutes.
I hurried over in a taxi, fearing that my lateness would make him angry.
I rushed into his office.
He was scolding his employees with his hands on his hips. When he saw me, he snorted.
"Don't you feel shameful? You forgot a decimal point in the document, so our company lost 10 million dollars."
I opened my mouth but said nothing.
It was the eighth time that he made me take the blame for his mistake.
For the sake of his poor pride, he always put the blame on me.
In fact, I never looked at his documents.
The employees who were scolded looked at me with contempt.
They must be furious that what they had achieved in a month was ruined just because of a decimal point.
I forced a smile.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault."
Wallace walked up to me and looked down at me condescendingly.
"Valery, since you made a mistake, I have to punish you to be a company cleaner for a day."
I nodded.
I told myself secretly to be patient. There was only one day left. I would have been married to him for three years tomorrow.
Therefore, I put on gloves, a mask, and an apron.
I bent over and mopped the floor. There were ten floors.
When I reached the eighth floor, I was so tired that I couldn't stand straight. Beads of sweat were dripping down.
A female employee passing by pinched her nose and frowned.
"How can our president have such a wife? She's stupid and dumb. And she's smelly."
She was Lina, Wallace's secretary. She had long wanted to get my position, so she disliked me.
My waist hurt like it was on fire, and I didn't want to speak to her.
However, she was aggressive.
"You are born inferior. No matter how you are abused, you never say a word. Please don't show up and embarrass yourself. "
The employees at their workstations glanced over secretly, watching the fun.
Lina suddenly grabbed my hair.
She shouted to the people around her, "Look, everyone! Mrs. Collins is wearing a hairband that costs only three dollars. It's unbelievable."
I felt pain and slapped her. She covered her face with her hand and tried to fight against me in rage.
"What are you doing?"
There came a voice. It was Wallace.
He walked over expressionlessly in a suit.
Lina walked over and pressed herself against him.
"Mr. Collins, it's all my fault. I just handed her a tissue to wipe her sweat, but she slapped me."
The red mark on Lina's face was obvious.
Wallace's voice was not loud, but there was an irresistible power.
“Apologize to Lina.”
I remained silent.
He raised his hand and slapped me.
"Can't you hear me?"
I bit my lip and said, "Sorry."
There were gasps of shock from people all around. No one expected me, Wallace's wife, to apologize to an employee.
"I didn't hear what you said."
Lina became more and more aggressive, but Wallace was still on her side and stared at me coldly.
I raised my voice. "Lina, I'm sorry!"
She smiled, "It's OK. I didn't care."
She lowered her voice, and only I could hear her. "Have you seen that? In Mr. Collins' eyes, you are not as important as a dog."
I dragged myself and continued mopping the floor, trying to ignore the strange looks around me.
My limbs were like heavy stones, and it took a lot of effort to lift them. I gritted my teeth and managed to finish mopping the last floor.
I felt my body was falling apart, so I lay on the ground casually.
I didn't want to move.
Suddenly, someone stepped on my hand. I wanted to withdraw it, but he didn't retract his foot.
It was Wallace.
He looked at me viciously.
"Do you have any shame? Lying on the floor like this is worse than a beggar on the street."
I chuckled, "Yeah."
He suddenly grabbed me.
His force was so strong that I could hardly breathe. I struggled, but he refused to let go of me.
"No matter how I torture you, you always stick with me and obey me. Why are you so humble? Are you addicted to being a bootlicker? The more you act like this, the more disgusted I feel."
He finally let go of me and walked away quickly. He was too impatient to even look at me.
I pressed my hand on my chest and gasped for a while before I calmed down.
