When My Alpha Humiliated Me, I Awakened Royal Blood Novel Cover

When My Alpha Humiliated Me, I Awakened Royal Blood

For three years, Aria read every twitch of Bradley's jaw. At 8:47, she finally understands: tonight, before two hundred wolves and visiting Alphas, her Alpha will reject her as mate and Luna. When the words fall, the mark on her neck turns cold, and the humiliation should break her. Instead, something ancient stirs beneath her skin—royal blood she never knew she carried. With Alpha Marcus Voss of Silverfang watching and a silent Lycan envoy seated at the far end, Aria stands at the edge of ruin. A rejection meant to destroy her may be the very thing that wakes the power strong enough to answer it.

Chapter 2

Leona arrived within the hour.

I heard her footsteps in the corridor before I saw her — the measured, deliberate pace of a woman who had spent decades ensuring that every step she took carried the weight of the Luna's authority behind it. The Omega quarters had no lock. She did not knock. She simply opened the door and stepped inside, closing it behind her with the same careful precision she used to adjust objects during her morning inspections of the pack house.

I was sitting on the narrow cot they had assigned me. Hands folded in my lap. Back straight. I did not stand.

Leona looked me over. Her gaze moved from my face to my posture to the small, bare room around me — cataloging, assessing, pronouncing judgment without speaking. When she finally did speak, her voice had the same flat, measured cadence she used to comment on the weather.

"Skyler has moved into the Luna's chambers," she said. "She is wearing your formal pendant. Clasp facing outward."

I felt something small and sharp twist behind my ribs. The clasp. Only a genuine Luna would know that detail — the clasp always faces inward, hidden beneath the hair, so the pendant lies flat against the collarbone. Outward means the wearer does not know what the pendant is for. It is decorative to her. A trophy.

Leona continued without waiting for a response.

"She has been briefed on the alliance dinner protocol. The documents you wrote have been very useful."

I said nothing. My hands stayed folded. My face stayed still.

"The Silverfang alliance dinner is in three days," Leona said. "You will attend. You will serve wine. You will remain silent. And when Bradley calls for the toast, you will stand before the visiting Alphas and publicly honor Skyler's ascension as Luna."

She paused. Let the silence stretch. Then delivered the rest in the same tone she had used for everything else.

"If you refuse, you will be exiled as a rogue beyond the border. The rogue clans you personally pacified will have no reason to spare you."

She waited. I understood she was waiting for me to react — to beg, to argue, to give her something she could use to remind me of my place. I gave her nothing. I looked at her and I let the silence sit between us until it became uncomfortable for her instead of me.

Finally, she turned and left. The door closed. Her footsteps receded down the corridor.

I sat in the dark and took inventory.

Not of grief. Not of the cold, hollow place where the bond mark used to hum. Not of the three years I had poured into a man who had rehearsed my rejection in a mirror.

I took inventory of leverage.

The Luna Accord. Sealed in my blood three years ago, when I sat alone in the border woods with the rogue clan leaders and negotiated terms Bradley never read. The patrol schedules I had designed personally, including the gap in the rotation that occurred every third night between midnight and two a.m. — a gap I had built deliberately, in case I ever needed to move through the pack house unseen. The alliance documents bearing my handwriting, my scent-mark, my strategic annotations in the margins that Bradley had signed without reading.

The pendant Skyler was wearing with the clasp facing outward.

I waited until the pack house settled. Until the last footsteps faded and the mind-link — the channel I could no longer access — went quiet in the way it does when wolves sleep. Then I stood, opened the door, and stepped into the corridor.

The gap in the patrol rotation was exactly where I had left it. I moved through the pack house the way I had moved through it for three years: invisible, efficient, a shadow the pack had learned not to see. Up the servants' staircase. Down the eastern hall. Past the Luna's chambers — Skyler's chambers now — where a sliver of light showed beneath the door and I heard her laugh, low and warm, at something Bradley said.

I kept walking.

The room I had shared with Bradley for three years was at the end of the hall. The door was unlocked. He had not bothered to secure it. Why would he? There was nothing in this room worth protecting.

Except there was.

I knelt beside the bed and pried up the floorboard I had loosened two years ago — the night after the first time Leona called me wolfless trash in front of the pack and I realized I needed insurance. Beneath it, wrapped in oilcloth, was everything I had kept: patrol logs in my handwriting, dated and scent-marked. Territorial records showing the rogue clan boundaries I had negotiated personally. Drafts of the Luna Accord bearing my blood-seal — the small, deliberate cut I had made across my palm in the presence of the clan leaders, the same cut Bradley never asked about. Correspondence from rogue clan leaders addressed to me by name, not to the Alpha of Ironvale.

I pulled the bundle free. Tucked it inside my jacket. Replaced the floorboard. Stood.

Bradley's scent was everywhere in this room. His and Skyler's now, layered and intertwined. I breathed it in once — not because I wanted to remember, but because I wanted to be certain I would not forget — and I walked out.

I returned to the Omega quarters before the next patrol passed. Set the documents on the narrow cot. Sat down beside them.

I did not sleep.

Outside, the pack house was silent. Somewhere in the Luna's chambers, Skyler was wearing my pendant with the clasp facing the wrong direction, and Bradley was sleeping beside her in the bed we had shared, and Leona was dreaming in the pack house that existed only because of the pact I had sealed in my own blood.

I looked down at the documents in my lap. Evidence. Leverage. The record no one had thought to erase because no one had thought I mattered enough to keep one.

In three days, I would attend the alliance dinner. I would serve wine. I would stand before the visiting Alphas.

And I would decide, in that moment, exactly what I was going to say.

I had everything I needed.
