Chapter 1

After the police arrested all the criminals, my husband, Hugh Grant, rushed to the stunned Leigh Warner at once.

Through the sea of fire, I, Julia Warner, tried to bear the great pain and watched Hugh hold Leigh tightly, looking so grateful.

"I'm so glad Lily is fine."

Yes, Leigh was fine. How fortunate.

With tears in my eyes, I watched my anxious parents running towards us not far away.

They also rushed to Leigh's side at once, worried and busy.

Leigh opened her eyes and nestled in Hugh's arms in fear, and then she was carried into the ambulance.

Finally, my parents remembered that I, their real biological daughter, was also here.

"Julia! You're so disgusting."

My mother covered her mouth, showing disgust as she looked at my charred and melted upper body, unwilling to come near me.

I lied to myself, thinking that it must be because my wound was too hideous and scary.

That was why they dared not help the doctors and nurses lift me into the ambulance.

I didn't blame them. I never blamed them.

I blamed myself for not being able to keep the baby I was carrying.

In the ward, the doctor told me that I had lost my baby.

Leigh, who was unharmed, was lying in the bed next to me, enjoying our mother's feeding.

The curtain was pulled open, and Leigh looked at me playfully. She saw my badly burned, bandaged upper body.

She pretended to be sad.

Then she said, "Julia, how could this happen? What a pity. You begged Hugh for five years, and then you finally had the baby."

I looked at her expressionlessly. "Isn't this what you want?"

The second day after she saw my pregnancy report, she and I were kidnapped.

I was not a fool.

Even without evidence, I knew who the mastermind was.

So, what was she crying for?

Leigh was surprised that I'd expose her so directly and froze. Seeing that, our mother frowned at me.

"Julia, don't talk to her like that. She's your sister, and she feels sorry for you."

"She is not my sister."

Just because I stated a fact, my mother threw the hot soup on me and left the ward angrily with Julia.

Before leaving, Julia turned back to me with a provocative sneer.

Since then, no one had ever come to visit me.

The three months of burn treatment was pure torture. I wished I had never been born.

But I gritted my teeth and persevered after all.

Because I wanted to ask Hugh a question.

If he knew I was carrying his child, would he still choose to save another woman first?

When I opened the gate of the villa, I heard many people excitedly shouting, "Kiss! Kiss!"

As I looked in the direction, I saw Hugh and the blushing Leigh being surrounded by a group of relatives and friends in the center. The voices I heard belonged to those people.

The look in his eyes as he looked at her was full of doting.

He held her hand and cut a luxurious and exquisite multi-layered cake with her.

Leigh blushed and was about to feed the first bite of cake to him.

Suddenly, someone screamed, and in the spacious living room, everyone fell silent, their eyes filled with fear as they stared at me.

I knew the flesh-colored burn mark on my neck scared them.

Mother frowned. "Why did you get discharged so quickly?"

Father was displeased. "Today is Leigh's birthday. You should have dressed up. Look at what you're wearing! After being back to our family for years, you still don't have basic manners at all."
