Werewolf Mirror
Chapter 8
Since that incident, John and Frank have become more withdrawn. When they met Leony’s mother, they behaved normally so as not to arouse suspicion among the other residents. They had grown accustomed to the occurrences within the family room and without realizing it, the time came when they were assigned to shop in Cardiff again.
The long-awaited day finally arrived. Frank and John welcomed this happy day, knowing they would soon leave the castle forever and be free from the fear that had always haunted them.
Now they had returned to the village of Hogan, and all the inhabitants welcomed them with curiosity.
“Are you no longer working at the castle?” asked Mr. Tomy with a smile.
“No, we’re not. We’ve experienced many events,” Frank replied with a somber expression.
“You better rest first, then tell us about it,” Mr. Tomy requested.
“All right,” John replied.
They went home to their respective houses and met with their families. Towards evening, they gathered with several villagers including Mr. Tomy and Roy.
They listened attentively to the harrowing experiences of the two servants, and then Roy recounted the experiences of all the villagers in the village to those two servants, which made them very surprised and scared.
“Oh my, wherever there are werewolves,” Frank complained while shaking his head.
“But you no longer have to worry, and the village is safe now,” Roy answered with confidence.
“Why is the village safe?” John asked, not understanding.
“We have planted wolfbane along the village border,” Roy replied with a smile.
Then, Roy explained the events experienced by all the inhabitants of the village of Hogan during the time that Frank and John worked at the castle. Starting from the gruesome death of Inggrid to the terror caused by the two werewolves who often visited the village, they decided to start looking for countermeasures and finally found them thanks to the help of Pastor Albert and Friar Rudi.
Upon hearing Roy’s words, the two servants felt calm. They felt right to return to their hometown village and would never leave again
Meanwhile, after a few days of the two castle servants’ departure, Leony’s mother grew suspicious. She approached Malcolm and asked the head of the household about the disappearance of Frank and John, who had gone to Cardiff.
“Malcolm! Have you seen Frank and John?” Leony’s mother asked as she approached the man.
“I haven’t seen them. What’s going on with them?” Malcolm asked, bewildered.
“Usually when they go to Cardiff, they return promptly, but now they haven’t shown up since two days ago,” Leony’s mother replied.
“Could it be that they quit by running away?” Malcolm asked, confused.
“Maybe they found out that we are werewolves,” Leony’s mother replied again.
“Well, if that’s the case, it’s quite troublesome! We should look for those two servants again,” Malcolm said.
“No need, I will investigate this myself,” Leony’s mother replied angrily.
“Very well, I’ll wait for news from you,” Malcolm said, returning to his work.
Leony’s mother left Malcolm and headed to the family room, where, fortunately, Lord George’s family was not at home, so she felt free to approach the magic mirror.
She gazed into the mirror and began communicating with its inhabitants. Not long after, the two werewolves emerged from the mirror, growling.
“What news do you bring?” asked Lord Roger.
“Two castle servants have run away,” Leony’s mother replied.
“No need to chase after them. If they slip up someday, then you can make them my followers,” Lord Roger said.
“Very well. So what do we do next?” Leony’s mother asked.
“We will attack the village of Verase and make its inhabitants my followers,” Lord Roger replied.
“When?” asked Leony’s mother.
“Tonight. Convey our plan to Malcolm,” Lord Roger said, leaping back into the mirror.
Mrs. Leony nodded and went to meet Malcolm, informing him of the plan. As night approached, they began to execute their action. Meanwhile, in the village of Verase, all was quiet; the inhabitants were fast asleep, unaware of the impending danger lurking around them. However, only one house belonging to the Steale family remained lit at that late hour—by 11:00 PM, the family was still conversing.
It was at that moment that four werewolves ran tirelessly as if impatient to slaughter their victims. Now, they had arrived in the village and immediately sought their prey. Not long after, chaos erupted in the village; heart-wrenching screams for help echoed among the residents. Those who survived tried to help their neighbors, but they too fell victim to the ferocity of the powerful and brutal werewolves.
Mr. Remington and his family were shocked to hear the piercing screams coming from their neighbor’s house. He jumped off the sofa, rushed to the window, and tried to find out what was happening. To his horror, as he peered through the curtain, he saw four werewolves busy slaughtering their victims.
Spontaneously, Mr. Remington shouted instructions to his wife, Mrs. Janet, to take their two children into the basement. Mrs. Janet swiftly moved to save their children while Mr. Remington turned off the lights and followed his wife, running after her. They quickly descended the basement stairs and locked the door behind them. Mr. Remington then opened a door that revealed a tunnel leading into the Sotana forest.
“Quickly! Before those werewolves catch us!” Mr. Remington yelled.
Mrs. Janet ran through the tunnel with their children while Mr. Remington tightly secured the basement door, which was the border route to the Andara mountains. They ran tirelessly toward the mountain border until they finally arrived. There, they searched for a cave to temporarily shelter in.
Meanwhile, the werewolves continued their rampage, successfully turning some villagers into their followers and devouring others as their evening meal. When they arrived at Mr. Remington’s house, the pack immediately burst in and smashed through the doors. They began to ransack the house and search for where the family was hiding. Eventually, Malcolm discovered the door leading to the basement.
He informed Lord Roger that the homeowners had fled through the underground passage, and Lord Roger agreed with the head of the household’s assessment.
