Chapter 2

Six months ago, the night before the national dance competition, Wyatt came to pick me up for a date.

Just before we left, Fiona looked at me with barely contained excitement. "Chloe, make the most of tonight."

I thought Fiona was hinting that Wyatt might propose. After all, we had been together for ten years, and he had always shown his desire to marry me.

So, I didn't think much of his nervousness on the drive. Instead, I chatted away, excitedly planning what we would do after tomorrow's competition.

I talked about taking my parents for their check-ups, recommending Fiona to the Dance Association, and going with him to see that hit movie everyone was raving about.

The accident happened in a heartbeat.

As we drove through an intersection, a large truck suddenly sped towards us from the side. It came so fast that there was no time to react. Wyatt instinctively swerved left.

The truck crashed directly into my side.

When I woke up again, I was in the hospital. My right leg, from the knee down, was gone.

As a dancer, I could have faced death or even a life without a soul, but I couldn't bear this broken body.

I cried my heart out in that hospital bed, sinking into despair and even contemplating ending it all.

But Wyatt never left my side. He knelt by my bed, comforting and encouraging me, promising that he would be my other leg from now on.

Then, he proposed to me.

I didn't say yes. I didn't want to burden Wyatt and felt unworthy of him anymore.

But Wyatt didn't give up. During my time in the hospital, he stayed by my side day and night, chatting with me, helping with my rehabilitation, and even cleaning my wounds.

His dedication moved my parents, and they stopped pressing him further about the accident.

On the day I was discharged, Wyatt invited all our friends and family, including my colleagues from the dance studio. In front of everyone, he proposed to me again.

"Chloe, marrying you has been my dream since I was a kid," he said.

I was so overwhelmed with emotion that tears streamed down my face. Wyatt even slipped the ring onto my finger himself.

But now, that disgusting video was telling me a different story.

He never loved me. The one he truly loved was Fiona.

That day, Wyatt didn't take me out to propose. He planned to break up with me and be with Fiona instead.

"After tomorrow, we can finally be together out in the open."

Those were their sweet words at the end of the video, followed by scenes I couldn't even begin to describe.
