Chapter 1

I was Salena Lynch, an ugly girl.

But when I put on a mask, I instantly became a hot and mysterious internet celebrity in the live-streaming room.

When Homer Glover finished cooking and knocked on the door, I was live-streaming with my mask on.

"Thank you, Tateee, my top generous fan, for the yacht! I'm going offline now, babies!"

After going offline, I ignored Tateee's private message, took off the mask that covered my ugly face, and opened the door to hug Homer.

Homer was my boyfriend. He was handsome, capable, and gentle!

Most importantly, he loved me deeply and didn't care about my ugly face at all.

Before he proposed to me, I asked him.

"Others say that you're out of my league. Why did you choose me to be your marriage partner?"

Homer smiled and stroked my head, saying. refuting me, "Not my marriage partner. You're my partner in love, baby."

He kissed me lovingly in public, not caring how the others looked at us.

"In my eyes, everyone looks the same, except you. You are different. You are the warmest and cutest girl I have ever seen. I like you, so I pursue you, and therefore I wanna marry you."

Our love was forever from that moment on.

Homer patiently and gently carried me to the dining table, and with a smile, he pushed all my favorite dishes in front of me.

"Our wedding is this weekend, Salena. Do you have anything to say?"

I ate while laughing.

"I wanna be with Homer forever!"

Homer suddenly fell silent.

"I'm sorry, Salena. Our wedding is a bit rushed. I don't have enough money to give you a grand wedding. But believe me, when I quit this job, I will work harder to make money and give you a better life."

Homer was both worried and looking forward to it, afraid that I'd run away.

My attention was caught by the words "quit this job".

"Are you finally going to resign? That's great! Although the job is well-paid, your female boss is so annoying! It's good to quit!"

He told me earlier that there was a female boss at the company who was harassing him, forcing him to be her lover. He rejected her once, and then she turned her torture on him even more.

He put up with it for the high salary, but now that he was going to marry me, he naturally had to consider my feelings and the stability of his own job.

After I expressed my support, Homer obviously was relieved.

"That's right! Salena, you have to believe in me. Even if I leave there, I can still earn money to support you!"

My response to him was a teasing laughter.

On this night, we naively believed that we had a future, and we even used our entire imagination to outline our happiness.

I was so certain that I was the happiest woman in the world. Though I was ugly, fortunately, I had met my savior.

Homer and I would definitely be very wealthy in the future because he was very hardworking and ambitious.

We'd have many children. Though I was ugly, Homer was handsome. His genes would definitely defeat mine, and our children would have excellent appearance.

Then we'd grow old together, leaning on each other and dying in the flower sea when we got old.

I kept fantasizing...

And all of a sudden, the man who was alive and gentle turned into a cold, broken corpse.

Homer fell to his death before the wedding.

He died in front of me just like that.

The police said it was suicide, but I denied it.

The night before, he said he was going to the company to resign and go through the final handover procedures. He was also looking forward to our wedding.

But in the blink of an eye, he fell off the building of the Tate Group?

Something was fishy.

My gut told me.

It was Homer's female boss who killed him.

But I had no evidence.

I could only numbly stare at his deformed body.

Perhaps in extreme sadness, one would feel like they were covered in a layer of mist, unable to perceive anything clearly.

In order to look into Homer's death, I went into the Tate Group's building, wanting to see for myself who the woman was.

She was pretty.

She was Lily Tate, the biological sister of the person in control of the Tate Group and also a manager in the Tate Group.

She was the sarcastic and sharp-tongued young woman that Homer mentioned.

Just by looking at her from a distance, I knew that my intuition was correct.

So, I followed Lily into the bathroom.

Hiding in the cubicle, I listened to Lily making a phone call by the sink.

Her voice was sharp and filled with frustration and anger.

"How the hell was I supposed to know he would die? I just gave him a little push! Is it my fault that the rooftop wind was so strong? He deserved it for not wanting to be with me and instead staying with that ugly freak at home every day!"

As Lily continued to speak, she finally vented her anger and took a deep breath before instructing the person on the other end of the line, "I'm glad Vince dealt with his body, and I wasn't suspected. But ... except for you, Noelle was also on the rooftop back then, right? Warn her. If she dares to say a word, I'll make her father suffer!"

After hanging up the phone, Lily kicked the wall hard.

"Homer, you wanna make me suffer even after you're dead? You jerk!" Then she laughed. "Too bad I didn't get to sleep with you."

As Lily turned on the faucet to wash her hands, I stood behind her.

She screamed as I coldly held her head and pressed it tightly into the sink.

Unfortunately, the sink was too shallow to cause enough pain for Lily, so I let go of her within less than a minute. Then I undid the long chunky bracelet on my wrist.

Homer knitted me this bracelet when he was alive. The string of beads was so long and strong that the bracelet could be wrapped around my wrist several times.

Now I took it off to seek revenge.

Unless something unexpected happened, I'd strangle Lily here today.

Lily, who had escaped from the water, looked at me in panic through the mirror.

She said, "Who are you? I'll kill you!"

I smiled and tilted my head.

If others made such an expression, they might look gentle and pretty, but when it was on my face, it was frightening.

"Who am I? I am the ugly monster you mentioned. I'm Homer's fiancée!"

When I wrapped Lily's neck with the bracelet from her behind, I watched her face in the mirror turn paler and even start to show an abnormal purplish-red color. I exerted more force, feeling the satisfaction of avenging Homer.

Footsteps could be heard outside the bathroom. I wanted to wrap this up quickly, but several voices echoed in my mind at the same time.

"Don't let Lily die so easily!"

"Someone is coming in! There's no time! Run! Revenge is never too late!"

In a daze, I seemed to hear Homer's cry as he tried to stop me.

My mind went blank in an instant, and the bracelet, which was usually very solid, was torn apart. The beads in all sizes rolled all over the floor and then disappeared.

Lily, like a dying fish, fell to the floor and crawled backward, trying to get away from me, breathing heavily and begging for help.

The footsteps outside became more anxious as if someone was about to rush in the next second.

I looked at the half bracelet in my hand, gritted my teeth, and turned around to push the door open.

Behind me, there was a surprised cry from a female employee and Lily's hysterical voice.

"Catch the woman who just went out!"

When I was in a hurry to leave the company, I bumped into a handsome, noble man.

He should be a big shot because everyone fawned on him on his way. Then he bumped into me.

My eyes caught sight of a small moon-shaped pendant hanging from his waist, and my eyes lit up.

It was one of the gifts I gave to my fans during the live broadcast.

This big shot was one of my fans!

However, when I looked up in surprise, I met the man's cold and disgusted gaze.

After seeing my face clearly, he pushed me away and disgustingly patted the nonexistent dust off his suit.

"You're so ugly. So disgusting!"

I instantly regained my senses and quickly lowered my head to apologize, looking like a rookie who was new to the workplace.

"Mr. Tate!"

A manager aside hurried over and bowed to the man, looking fear.

I was shocked.

It turned out that this man was Vince Tate, Lily's brother!

And though he was famous, he was also my fan, even though I was just an unknown live streamer!

With mixed feelings in my heart, I saw Lily, with a bloodstain on her neck, crying and running towards Vince.

"Vince! Help! Someone wants to kill me!"

I hid among the surrounding employees, turned around, and left...

In the bar, I kept drinking, crying, and cursing.

I hated myself for being useless and unable to avenge Homer.

My phone rang, and when I looked at it, it was a message from Tateee.

[Tateee: Why haven't you been live-streaming these days, Salena? Did something happen?]
