Trapped by His Love, Burned by His Betrayal

After my death, for reasons unknown, my spirit drifted alongside Henry Dawson.

In his office, Henry had just finished a meeting. I used to visit him often, bringing him homemade lunches, but it had been a week since my last visit.

Suddenly, he furrowed his brow and asked his assistant, "Where was Megan?"

"Had she made up her mind? When was she going to apologize to Grace?"

The assistant's expression changed, and after a moment of contemplation, he replied, "Mr. Dawson, Miss Carter was likely still at the villa."

Henry paused and said, "She could come out when she was ready to apologize to Grace and Snowy."

"She needed to learn a lesson for being so spiteful; otherwise, her jealousy would know no bounds, not even sparing a little dog."

The assistant was about to leave to call me when Henry suddenly stopped him. "Wait."

"Let her stay there for a few more days before letting her out."

The assistant hesitated for a moment before finally nodding. "Okay."

The last time Grace's dog jumped on me, I fell to the ground, clutching my stomach, my face pale. Henry looked at me without any reaction and nudged my hand with his foot. "Megan, your acting was pretty good."

"It's just too bad I didn't fall for it. Stop pretending and get up!"

It wasn't until blood started flowing from my abdomen that Henry's expression changed, and he instructed his assistant to take me to the hospital.

Unsurprisingly, I had a miscarriage.

I cried for a long time, and Henry only offered me a few casual words of comfort: "Alright, we can have another child, but Grace's dog is one of a kind."

"Stop crying already."

In front of me, Grace held her dog and said to Henry, "Look, this is Daddy."

They referred to themselves as the dog's parents, while my unborn child was just gone like that.

When Grace's dog got sick, Henry was beside himself with worry, rushing with Grace and the dog to the vet.

When I was sick, he would only scoff and ask, "Was pretending to be sick fun for you?"

Even a dog's life was worth more of his concern than mine.

During the days when Grace's dog was poisoned, Henry accompanied her to the pet hospital every day. His expression was one of pain for the dog.

But when I had a miscarriage, there was never a hint of pain in his eyes.

When Grace's dog recovered and was discharged, Henry even had the assistant order a cake.

That day was also my birthday, but my body lay in the villa, unnoticed by anyone.

The assistant cautiously asked, "Was the cake for Miss Carter?"

Henry paused with his phone in hand. "Did she deserve it?"

"Don't involve me in her games. Just order a pet cake and send it over, quickly."

"And remember, no chocolate. Dogs can't eat chocolate."

See, he even remembered that dogs couldn't eat chocolate.

But he forgot that that day was my birthday.

My soul floated in the air, watching Henry celebrate a birthday with Grace and a dog.

I found it absurd and laughable.

Grace leaned on Henry's shoulder. "Thank you, Henry."

"You're so good to me."

Henry smiled and gently tapped her nose with his finger. "Silly."

"I won't let you be wronged. I'll make sure she apologizes to you and Snowy. If it weren't for her meanness, refusing to feed Snowy, he wouldn't have suffered so much."

With that, a flash of ruthlessness appeared in his eyes.
