This Family Falls Apart Without Me Chapter 1
Good news: I've been reborn.
Bad news: I've been reborn as a zombie.
I clawed my way out of the grave with my bare hands.
My grandson, who was offering incense and praying, was so scared that he was rushed to the ICU overnight.
After a bit of disguise, I carried a fruit basket and snuck into the hospital.
Just in time for an eye-to-eye encounter with my grandson.
I saw my unworthy grandson clinging to the doctor's leg, saying, "Help! I think I saw my great-grandmother!"
1
When I sensed my end was near, I found a priest.
He muttered incantations at the burial site and his expression grew increasingly serious. "The land here isn't very good."
But our tradition values returning to one's roots, so I had to be buried here. I asked him, "Is there any way to break this curse?"
He gave me a talisman, advising that my descendants should place it on the coffin to ensure their safety.
I pulled the priest aside, a glint in my eye. "Will this talisman ensure I'm reborn into a good family in my next life?"
The priest stroked his beard and laughed heartily. "With this talisman, you'll be fine."
"Then you're saying compatriots don't deceive compatriots!"
"Compatriots don't deceive compatriots!"
On the day of my death, my soul couldn't leave my body.
The reason was that my careless son had placed the talisman incorrectly, trapping me in the coffin day after day.
As time passed, the talisman on the coffin gradually deteriorated.
When the last trace of the talisman fell off, I regained my senses.
I didn't know how long I had been unconscious, only that I was now filled with strength and could still be saved!
So, I used all my strength to pry open the coffin and the dirt on top.
To my surprise, as soon as I exposed half of my head, I saw a young man around twenty.
He bore some resemblance to my foolish son.
He was burning paper offerings and muttering, "Great-grandmother, this is the latest iPhone. I've also burned the manual for you. Damn, why is the manual in a foreign language!?
"Forget it, I'll burn a translation next time!"
Despite the trouble, I smiled at him. "Just burn me a domestic phone next time!"
As soon as I finished speaking, my grandson fainted.
2
I leaped down from the grave and went to his side.
"Wake up!"
After two slaps, my grandson's face visibly reddened and swelled.
I was anxiously stomping my feet.
At this moment, my son emerged from the darkness holding incense and paper money, with my daughter-in-law in tow.
The two were inseparable... wait, why is the daughter-in-law different?
"Thank you for coming to pay respects to Mom!" My son smiled down, immersed in happiness, seemingly unaware of my tattered self and the fainted grandson.
I calmly shifted my position and hid behind a tree, quietly observing the two.
"I'll accompany you every day from now on, okay?"
My son's pupil shrank, and the daughter-in-law quickly corrected. "I meant every year!"
From this, it seemed the daughter-in-law was a gentle and lovely person.
My son nodded in agreement, but when his gaze shifted from the daughter-in-law's beautiful face to my grave, his eyes showed a hint of surprise.
"Sonny, Sonny, what's wrong?"
Soon, an ambulance arrived and took my grandson to the hospital.

After some more disguising, I carried a fruit basket and sneaked into the hospital.
"Excuse me, which ward is Sonny in?"
As soon as I asked, I regretted it.
The smell of decay from my mouth couldn't be masked even by perfume.
The nurse wrinkled her nose in disgust and mumbled, "702, ICU."
So, my grandson had been so scared that he was admitted to the ICU overnight.
My legs went weak, and it took a few seconds for me to steady myself.
This was because I recalled spending my last days in that very room.
Following the hospital's corridor map, I finally found the elevator.
After pressing the button for the 7th floor, I squeezed into the corner of the elevator.
Especially when I saw two young men enter the elevator.
One of the young men frowned. "What's that strange smell?"
Hearing this, I immediately sniffed my arm. Hmm... there was indeed an inescapable stench.
The two men started searching for the source of the smell.
In the next second, they were about to discover me...
In a panic, I used my astonishing mimicking skills to make a "puff" sound.
The other man's ears twitched, and without even lifting his eyelids, he subtly moved further away from me.
Seeing the effect, I was overjoyed.
Finally, the man who first spoke turned to me impatiently. "Madam, what did you eat? It keeps making that sound endlessly!"

When the elevator reached the 7th floor, the two men hurriedly rushed out, and one of them muttered, "I'm fed up with this Sonny."
How did he know my family's ranking was Sonny?
Ignoring my doubts, I finally found 702. Fortunately, my grandson had just been moved out of danger and was about to be transferred to another room.
He looked quite well, chatting and laughing with the doctor!
I leaned against the glass, making eye contact with my grandson.
It created an awkward atmosphere!
Did he recognize me?
Probably not, he was only about three years old when I passed away.
Before I could figure it out, my unworthy grandson suddenly clung to the doctor's leg, crying, "Help! I think I saw my great-grandmother!"
I quickly crouched down, using a half-height concrete wall to hide my body and avoid being spotted.
Unfortunately, the crouching movement was too large, and I slipped and fell to the ground.
For an ordinary old person, such a fall could be fatal.
But as a zombie, dislocated bones didn't affect my walking.
I was about to go to the restroom to straighten my bones when an external force suddenly lifted me off the ground.
Two men in volunteer uniforms were carrying me.
"Move aside. We've got a wild patient here!"
The volunteers gathered, creating a grand procession in the hospital corridor.
Although it wasn't very dignified, escaping in this manner was the fastest way out.
