Chapter 1

The year I became paralyzed, my husband decisively took all our savings and ran away. Before leaving, he asked our son and daughter who they would choose.

Our son, Shane William, firmly chose him. While our daughter, Cherry William, chose to stay and take care of me.

I was paralyzed for twelve years and Cherry took care of me for twelve years. Even after marrying someone else, she kept me by her side. To earn money for my medical expenses, she worked three jobs a day, collapsing from exhaustion several times.

My son-in-law couldn't stand it anymore, "If you continue to care about your disabled mother, we'll divorce!"

Then our daughter divorced him without hesitation.

Her filial piety moved the entire internet and she was hailed as "the most filial daughter in the country."

Everyone envied me for having such a wonderful daughter. Until my hometown was demolished, I received eight million dollar in compensation. But I transferred all the money to Shane who had been with his father.

The entire internet accused me of favoring sons over daughters. A reporter approached me and asked, "You've been paralyzed for twelve years and your son hasn't taken care of you for a single day. It's your daughter who has cared for you tirelessly and incurred a huge debt for you. Why don't you leave her a penny?"

I looked at the reporter and said calmly, "Just install a hidden surveillance camera in my house and live stream it for three days and you'll know why."

——

As soon as the hidden camera was installed, the live stream began.

Cherry came home from get off work, dark circles under her eyes, wearily approaching my bed to clean me. Seeing the mess under me, her eyes showed no trace of disgust, but rather heartache and guilt.

She asked, "Mom, did you have diarrhea last night?"

She reached out and gently smoothed the stray gray hair from my forehead and saying, "I'm sorry. It's my fault I've been so exhausted from work lately. I slept so soundly that I forgot to tuck you in. You were miserable all night..."

I looked at her quietly, speechless. The livestream commentators were filled with exclamations.

"Oh my god, this daughter is so kind. She just got home from get off work and saw this mess and her first reaction is to blame herself."

"Yeah, if I were tired after a long day at work and saw this, I'd be so annoyed!"

"She's truly the most filial daughter in the country! She brought me to tears!"

Cherry unaware of the invisible livestreaming at home, she simply helped me roll over and took me to the bathroom to shower. But she was too tired. She struggled mightily but couldn't lift me from the bed.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Cherry opened it and saw Shane standing there. She was startled, "Why are you here?"

Shane said nonchalantly, "Mom gave me eight million and Dad asked me to come back for a few days just to make it look good and avoid gossip!"

With that, he squeezed through the door. Cherry was exhausted from the day and too lazy to say anything.

She simply said to her brother, "Then come over here and lend a hand. Help me get Mom to the bathroom. I need to give her a bath!"

Shane glanced over and said in disgust, "She's so disgusting. She stinks of shit and piss. I don't even want to touch her!"

Cherry frowned, "Shane, Mom just gave you all the eight million dollars in compensation for the demolition. How can you not even help me?"

Shane snorted, "She gave it to me voluntarily. Are you trying to blackmail me?"

Cherry sighed, "I respect Mom's decisions. She gave you all the compensation so you could settle down, get married and live a good life. I just hope you won't let Mom down and make her feel bad."
