Chapter 1

I damaged my uterus to save my husband, which made pregnancy hard. However, I was able to get pregnant with triplets after two years of IVF. For ten months, I managed to endure the pain of a fractured uterus.

My uterus weakened early, my skin turned loose and I was worn out from being a full-time housewife.

After I had finally gotten pregnant with three children, I accidentally overheard the drunken words of my husband, my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law.

"I’m so thankful that Vera had no idea whose babies she carried. She helped me to get my love child with Yvonne. This gives me something to value and to look forward to in my life."

"I’m so anxious about losing my figure, so I had an idea to borrow her womb to bear mine. My position is now unchallenged. I’m still the top female anchor!"

"Wonderful! This is such a brilliant idea. Now that your brother has a baby, our family will be together again."

The three of them laughed, seeing my pain like a bottle of red wine, drinking cup after cup.

I lost control the moment I learnt the truth, I lost my temper, only to be accused of becoming a mentally unstable woman who ‘didn’t live a good life’. After that, they sent me to a mental asylum. Eventually, it caused me to have depression and I died there.

When I opened my eyes again, it turned out that I was reborn.

I was back in my eighth month of pregnancy.

——

I rested my hand on my swollen belly, tracing the snake-like patterns stretching across my skin. It was still unbelievable to me that I had been reborn. Plates of cut Yubari King melons were served with two attentive maids who tended to my every whim.

Everything was exactly as it had been before, leaving me no choice but to believe it.

I was reborn in my eighth month of pregnancy.

Since I was pregnant with triplets, my belly had grown so large that I could barely take a few steps each day without my spine breaking. Seeing the familiar things in this house, painful memories came flooding back.

The next moment, the door opened. My sister-in-law, Sally Moore, who worked at the TV station, entered with a gentle smile, holding her husband, Alex Carraghan’s, hand.

“Vera, are you feeling good? You’ll be in labor soon. Is it hard? It must be so exhausting!”

Sally held my hand with affection, lovingly caressing my belly like she really paid attention to me. Unfortunately, the memories from my past life still haunted me. Recalling them brought a numbing ache.

To maintain her figure and advance her career, Sally had secretly arranged for her and Alex’s child to be implanted in my belly. I had to bear the painful birth of her children.

When the baby grew up, she took him back with a paternity test. Sally dismissed all my efforts before suing me for every gift and property that she had ever given me.

Meanwhile, I kept my silence. I forced myself to stay calm and let out a fake grin.

“How could it not be difficult? But with these three children, it’ll all be worth it. Don’t you think so, Vera?”

My mother-in-law, Mrs. Moore, came in with a huge smile. She brought a red cloth box, taking out a pair of golden bracelets to be put on my wrists.

“Thank you for carrying my grandchildren, Vera. I bought them to wish you good luck from the jewelry store. I pray for a healthy pregnancy and a smooth delivery. I will keep them for you.”

In my last life, my mother-in-law also gave me the same pair of golden bracelets. Like an idiot, I naively thought she truly cared for me and the babies. So, I accepted them with gratitude and bought her back a platinum bracelet.

Once the triplets were born, I learned the bracelets bore John Moore, my late brother-in-law's ashes. Mrs. Moore said she wanted him to be close to his child and looked over the birth.

It turned out that Mrs. Moore secretly implanted John’s seed inside me, hoping that I would carry on his family line. Even worse, my husband, Robbie Moore, agreed. Since he was equally ruthless, he also had his and his unrequited love’s child placed in my belly.
