The Stepmother Is Not Vicious
Chapter 1
I woke up with a vague consciousness and the noise in my ears.
I put on a pajama, opened the door, and looked downstairs to the living room.
A three-year-old boy was crying, kneeling next to him was a little girl, and an old lady was scolding her fiercely.
"You were supposed to comfort your younger brother, but you made him cry! Are you doing it on purpose?"
The girl's voice was soft and tender.
"He asked me to lie down and be his horse. After crawling a few laps, I was exhausted and wanted to take a break, and then he started crying."
The old lady kept cursing.
"How dare you talk back to me! Let me teach you a good lesson!"
The little girl shook her head and begged for mercy while crying.
"Stop it, Kayla. Please don't touch my knees. It hurts!"
It was so heartbreaking that I couldn't bear it anymore.
She was only five years old and was so thin. After kneeling for such a long time, her knees were swollen.
How painful it must be!
I hurried downstairs to stop it, running and shouting.
"Stop!"
Just as I finished speaking, the voice of the system appeared in my ears.
"Host, don't forget that you are bound to the evil stepmother system. Straying from your character will result in punishment!"
Well, I forgot about the system.
I put away the concern on my face and put on an impatient expression.
"Why are you crying so early in the morning? What a bad fortune!"
The old lady Kayla Sanford stopped when she heard me, ordering the little girl.
"Get down and let your younger brother ride on you like a horse. If he hasn't had enough fun, you're not allowed to get up!"
The knees of the little girl called Anabel Herman were swollen badly, and she cried silently, as if afraid to make a sound in case I got angry. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
She knelt on the ground, supporting her body with her hands, pretending to be a horse.
The old lady comforted her grandson Jasper Herman hurriedly beside her.
"Jasper, don't cry. Look, there's the horse for you to ride."
Jasper didn't even shed a tear and immediately smiled.
His chubby body sat on the thin girl.
"Giddy up! Giddy up! Horse, run!"
Anabel was too thin and her waist was under great pressure.
Kayla was still threatening.
"Be steady. If you dare to throw Jasper, I won't let you off!"
I was trying to think of a way to save Anabel anxiously.
After Anabel climbed two laps, Jasper was attracted by the butterfly outside the window. He got off Anabel and went outside to play with the butterfly.
Kayla followed him carefully.
"Jasper, be careful."
After the two left, I helped Anabel up quickly and said to her angrily.
"Follow me!"
Probably because her knees were numb, Anabel struggled to get up from the ground and followed me unsteadily.
I threw a tube of anti-inflammatory medicine to her.
"You'd better use it!"
Anabel looked at me in horror.
My tone was full of impatience.
"Do you think I'll poison you? Your father will be back in a few days. If he sees you like this, he will think I'm abusing you!"
Anabel nodded in confusion and began to carefully apply the medicine.
Maybe she touched the wound and it hurt, so she cried.
Tears fell to the wound, and it was even more painful. Tears also washed away the medicine, so she had to apply it again.
I stood beside her, feeling heartbroken, but I couldn't help her because of the system monitoring.
At that moment, I suddenly realized something.
It seemed that being nice to her just now didn't trigger the system!
Suddenly, it seemed like I found a bug in the system!
