Chapter 3

Morgan's POV

I heard movements, ruckus in the distance and my eyes fluttered open, a cough stuck in my chest. A strange weakness enveloped me.

It was when I tried to move that I realized that I was bound, by chains. They rattled from around me.

Panic spread through me, my vision blurring again.

My male slave was gone, and I looked down to see myself fully clothed in dirty, unappealing clothes on top of my bed. I didn't remember falling asleep.

The last thing I remembered was that dagger to his throat, his eyes holding promises of raw, nasty disobedience.

And that smirk...

I tried to force myself out of the chains, but unfortunately, they were tightly tied to the bed, and every move dragged my skin with it.

I let out a scream to alert someone, because I couldn't make sense of what was going on.

Two of my guards stepped in.

"Get me out of these chains. Quickly." I started off with measured breath, trying to take in what the hell was happening, but they just stared at me.

"Didn't you hear me?" They just kept looking at me like I was invisible, and a cold sensation slipped down my spine.

A third guard walked in, my own guard Ezgar, and he had orders in his mouth.

"He requests her presence." He said to the others and my heart hammered in my chest at his words.

He? Who's he?

My mouth was dry, I needed water.

"Release me from these chains now!" A frustrated shriek escaped my chapped lips.

When they were still unmoving, I began to rage fire and brimstone, cussing at them.

Ezgar suddenly cursed back rudely at me,

his face contorted in pure disgust.

"Shut your mouth for once." He demanded, and I froze, my eyes fluttering dramatically.

He couldn't possibly be talking to me that way. Was I dreaming? Is this a dream? It had to be.

The chains dug into my flesh as they were obviously taking it off me in a way that would hurt me more. It wasn't a dream.

"What did you just say to me?"

He paid me no attention, he just headed out while the other two removed the chains. Before I could blink, I was harshly pushed down to the cold ground, and they started dragging me out of my room like I was some fugitive.

I was not having it. With all the pain and sudden fatigue, and even confusion, I fought them off. I sent one flying hard against the wall.

The other, I smashed his head under my feet. I didn't become the female alpha from nowhere to harbour such disrespect.

My chest heaved as I looked around, studying my palace, eyes at alert. It was noisy, chattering filling the air. No one dared make a sound ever, so what is this?

Who did this to me?

I snuck into corners, looking for clues, and I was still doing that when suddenly, I was pulled out from a hideout by the wine cellar, and thrown across the room. I fell on my side, heavily bruised and with a cry of pain at the tip of my mouth, but I rose quickly.

Even though broken wines scratched my feet all over, and it really hurt, I couldn't afford to be extra disadvantaged. It was the third guard, Ezgar.

"How dare you?" I was done trying to figure out what was happening, but whatever it was, gave Ezgar the impression that he could treat me like this.

My hands formed into a fist, my claws already digging out of my flesh.

"You don't get it, do you? This is my chance to finally beat the hell out of you before he gets to you, you stupid bitch."

He spat at me.

"Who? Who!" I raged on, and Ezgar dared to charge at me.

I spoke too soon.

I kept him by my side because he had strength, but seeing him turn on me and use that strength against me weakened me.

It wasn't a fair fight, even with all my strength, and I was about to be knocked unconscious when a quick, huge figure emerged, sprinting towards Ezgar with his full might.

I spotted pure terror flash through Ezgar's eyes before his back dangerously hit the wall so hard, I couldn't believe it didn't shatter.

"Did I say you could touch a hair on her head? How dare you touch her?" This figure snarled against his face, and Ezgar's body shook.

"Master...please.."

What? I'm his master!

Before my eyes, this figure with a now familiar voice, crushed Ezgar's throat, before completely snapping it. Ezgar fell limp on the floor, his eyes completely popped.

Bile rose to my throat, and when this figure I couldn't see properly, turned to me, I instinctively crawled backwards in fright. Something in me knew I was no match.

He started striding towards me.

"Don't come any closer." I started in a low whisper. Fear washed over me, my pulse derailing when he walked even faster in my direction.

"I said don't come any closer!"

He reached me, and this mighty man pulled me by my arms, up to my feet.

He whispered into my ears.

"You're the reason for your downfall after all, Morgan."

The monster kicked my shin, and I saw myself back on the ground. My eyes shook.

That voice. I knew that voice.

My hair was wrapped into a fist, and I was slowly going in and out of consciousness.

My ass rubbed against the bare floor as he dragged me out by my hair. I had no fighting power left in me at this point.

When we reached outside, I saw the back of his head more clearly. My gasp was instant.

"A-azriel?" My voice cracked, in disbelief. He didn't turn around, he just kept dragging me through the long lonely hall that led to my throne room.

I just froze. If I shut my eyes long enough, everything would go away. At least that's what I thought.

The exact moment my body hit the ground like a sack, and I watched my very own slave walk right to my throne and sit majestically, surrounded by my own guards in the throne room, was when I knew that something really terrible had happened.

My knees screeched hard and burned, but it was not my priority at all.

Azriel faced me with a low smirk, looking nothing less of a king, like he deserved my throne. It made my stomach twist, and spite consumed me.

Just as I was about to snap at him, I heard noises in the distance, and my eyes darted across the throne room. Half the pack was here.

"So that's what her tears look like..."

"I never thought there would be a day where she would be next to the ground. This is the best day of my life!"

"The ruthless alpha Queen is finally down!"

I'm down? W-what?

Just like that, no one feared me anymore?

I refused to award them any satisfaction of any more tears. I wiped them off, and I looked ahead with a locked jaw, even though I was burning with anger within me.

"That's right, look around you, all the people you've hurt..." My gaze shifted back to Azriel, who spoke with so much authority, I was almost tempted to bow.

Over my dead body.

"What makes you feel you're deserving of my throne? How did you turn them against me? Who gave you that power–"

A sudden pressure hit me, and I felt my body get thrown across the throne room.

Alma. She snarled from within me, overpowering me.

"Alma! Stop! You're hurting me!"

I cried out to her hearing because this time, it really stung. Alma scratched my face and body against the floor, hitting me against surfaces, and I was too disoriented, I couldn't help myself.

"I know we've had our differences, but help me now, you're the only one I have left!" She wasn't listening. Instead she was making me self destruct harder. A new wave of intense pain spread across me every second.

I tried fighting back at one point, trying to compress her back in with my full might.

It made no sense that I didn't hold a candle to my wolf when I knew that I did on normal grounds, and the fact that I was already beaten up was certainly not the reason.

"No Morgan, it's not fun to watch you suffer without inflicting some of mine. It's my turn!" She raged on until I felt almost lifeless, in the midst of half of my own pack.

My gaze lifted to Azriel. The moment our eyes met, his eyes seemed to glisten, and Alma instantly went straight to hiding.

She moved through me like she was just hit, and she whimpered like she was hurt.

I just laid there, my breathing dragged as relief clothed me, when a realization hit me.

Did he do that? Was he...controlling her?
