'Oh, Christopher', she wailed, looking at me imploringly. 'I have betrayed you!'

'Betrayed me?' I asked, wondering what she was talking about. What did she mean by having betrayed me? Had I not judged the scene I witnessed, accurately? I tried playing back the scene in my mind as I held her tightly, awaiting more explanations from her.

'Can you forgive me?' she asked and I was sure she was going to tell me she had decided to choose Sylvester over me. Oh, moon goddess, you cannot do this to me, I silently prayed for not now that I have started believing in you. I decided to ask her outrightly.

'What have you done and what should I forgive you for?' I asked, my voice steady.

'Is it possible to desire two men at the same time?' she asked and my heart gave a big thump.

'What are you trying to say?' I whispered hoarsely tilting her face up so that I could look into her eyes.

'Oh, Christopher, I do not understand it myself!' she wailed, using the back of her hands to wipe her eyes.

'Then describe it to me and perhaps, I can explain it to you', I said in a firm voice.

'I left you and came here to relax and was thinking about you when Sylvester barged in and we exchanged a few words in which I told him I was not to blame for the strong bond between you and me', she said and paused.

'Of course you are not responsible for that!' I said encouragingly.

'He was angry at those words and accused me of not being able to stand his touch and he was going to take it by force'.

'I heard that part. That was when I rushed in', I said, heaving a sigh of relief. Was that how she had betrayed me? I thought with a smile. Millicent was really naive.

'Not then, something similar had happened before then and when I tried to fight him off, I found to my shock that I felt a rush of desire for him!'

I was silent. I felt numb. I didn't know what to think or say. She felt desire for Sylvester? I'm the only one she should desire and no one else!

'Say something!' she urged.

'What would you have me say?' I asked, finding that I was getting angry, not at Millicent but at Sylvester for touching my mate in such a way as to excite her. 'Go on', I urged her.

'I was shocked that for an instant, I felt desire for him and then I pushed out of his embrace and after exchanging more words with him, about my father, I was reminded of his ruthlessness in his treatment of my father and the fury flared in me again. I felt revulsion for having felt any desire for him no matter how minute. Then I tried to put ony shirt be ause he pulled it of the first time and he caught me again and started touching me forcefully. He was going to force himself on me. I was so scared but thank goodness you rushed in at the right time.

'It's okay', I said. 'You felt desire because you are a living being or are you dead?' I asked, trying to reassure her.

She shook her head and blew her nose into her handkerchief.

'There! You see?' I said triumphantly. 'And it is possible you were on heat as well'.

' Is that how you desire other women too?' she asked, bemused. 'Is it not supposed to be a male to a female?'

'Different strokes for different wolves. Everyone has their preferences. Some female can mate with several male and vise versa. But rest assured I am a one female - male! I am satisfied with a female at a time and now that I have a mate, there is no other female for me!' I said sincerely.

She smiled but grew serious. 'Does it mean then, that I am one of such female who mate with several male?' she asked sadly, the idea apparently not sitting well with her.

'I didn't say that. Those female enjoy messing around with the male folk. Your case is different. You are mated to Sylvester as well and it is logical that you feel some attraction for him', I said but found that I was far from being happy about that.' And if you were on heat, your sexual appetite will be much more heightened'.

'Whatever be the case, I assure you, I did not feel it as strongly as when you were the one touching me', she said thoughtfully. ' I even thought that it was because you had touched me previously that made me feel weird when he later touched me because I have never felt desire for him before that moment!' she swore.

'And when he touched you the second time, before I came, how did you feel?' I had to ask. I was dying of curiosity. I knew her answer could hurt me but I just had to know just how strong my competition was.Even if she were on heat, I didn't want her desiring any other!

'I only felt revulsion and didn't want his hands on me!' she said fervently. 'Do you suppose it will happen again? Me, desiring him when he touches me?' she asked.

'I said it's ok. I believe you, seriously', I said drawing her close. Thank goodness it was just that and nothing more serious. 'And concerning how you will feel if he touches you again, that is for you to decide. It is totally up to you. You could decide not to feel anything when he touches you!'

'I do not think I could feel desire for him again. I do not hate him, but neither do I love him and he has wronged me in so many ways that my feelings cannot really be romantic towards him. I believe what happened was an isolated incident'.

'I believe so too', I said, trying to convince myself that it was indeed so.

She lifted her face up and opened her mouth, sticking out her tongue and I could see what she was asking and kicking the door shut, for we had been standing since I got in, I obliged her and soon, she was moaning. When we came up for air, she said the words that gladdened my heart to no end. 'Never like this! I did not feel it as strongly as this, with Sylvester. Christopher you are the one for me, ever!'

'And you're my one and only for all eternity', I said meaning it.
