Chapter 2

Lily's p o v

"Lyndsey... You're here?" I whispered as she held the door open for me to walk in.

"There was a terrible pipe connection issue in my apartment. The entire place was flooded so Joe offered for me to move in for the mean time."

"Oh." I murmured with a small nodding of my head.

"He changed the password to my birthday because he was afraid that I would not remember it. You won't mind, right?"

So the password was her birthdate? Nothing else could be used?

My eyes fell on Lindsey's fallen shoulder straps. There was a clear mark on her chest and my suspicious sense kicked in instantly.

"Lily is the most considerate wife in the world. How could she mind!" I heard from inside. Joe was sitting on the sofa, his pants wrinkled and his clothes not sitting entirely well on his body as if he had worn them in a hurry.

He got up to high me but my suspicion couldn't help but get heightened. "You went out so late without telling me. You are pregnant now. What should I do if something happens to you?" I felt cold inside when I saw Joe's affectionate look. On the surface, he was caring for me, but secretly he was having an affair with his first love in my home. He even changed his password for fear that I would come back suddenly and catch them.

I didn't bother with him too much and went upstairs directly. Joe, who never liked to drink milk, suddenly poured me a glass of milk at night. "You are in the third trimester of pregnancy now. You should pay more attention to supplementing protein and calcium." He started saying upon seeing the hesitation in my expression.

My eyes darkened when I looked at the milk Joe handed over. 'Something is off about this.' my wolf whispered.

"I don't want it." I said.

Joe appeared embarrassed when I refused, but he still coaxed me patiently. "I am doing this for your and the child's good. Be good and listen."

After that, he held the glass or my lips that I had to dork my head back to avoid it. I grab the cup from him and meet his gaze.

He wants me to drink it, fine. What's the worst that could happen anyway?

After drinking the sweet and fishy milk, I retired to my room, excusing the both of them.

But in a trance, I begin to feel drowsy. I told myself I was tired from the journey anyway.

I reached for my bag to take out the prescription but somehow, my vision began to blur. I couldn't keep my eyes open any more.

When I woke up the next day, I felt so much pain that I could hardly get up.

When I did, I walked downstairs each step feeling like I was lifting two bags of cement after the other down each step.

"Joe!" I called but my voice echoed back to me.

I reached the TV screen to see a tape on it and on it was Joe's handwriting. "I saw you were tired so I didn't beat to wake you. I'm out to a pack meeting and I'll be back soon."

I threw the paper into the bin and walked towards the flower vase as fast as I could.

There I secretly kept a camera which I could watch the feed from my phone.

Now that I was alone, I connected the camera to my phone and fast-forwarded from when I walked up the stairs after drinking the milk.

A sense of shame tugged at my heart as I watched Joe and Lyndsey kissing and making out on the sofa. After I fell asleep, Joe and Lindsay kissed all the way from the door and rolled to my side.

They kissed all the way upstairs and I switched to the camera in my room. There I saw them walking in to meet my sleeping body on the bed.

"Joe. you don't know how uncomfortable I feel when I see you with this woman every day." Lindsay said seemingly disturbed and Joe sneered at me like some disgusting refuse dump.

"How can this fat woman compare with you? I am with her just for the child. If I didn't want you to suffer, how could I marry her? Compared with you, she isn't even close to you in beauty or shape."

Lyindsay suddenly looked at me with interest. "Are you sure you gave her enough sleeping pills?" She asked as she began to strip off my clothes and my brows furrowed. "What if she finds out the truth after she gives birth? It's better for us to keep some evidence against her."

Joe seemed to agree with Lindsay's words and helped her to take off my clothes until I was completely naked. Then the two dragged me to a stool and sat me with my legs spread and facing the bed. Tears began to pour from my eyes as I watched with shame and disgust.

Joe took a mobile phone and kept taking pictures of me, while Lindsay kept changing my position. After taking enough pictures, the two began to move recklessly towards me, who was sleeping. I watched the scenes on the phone with tears stinging my eyes and my heart snapping in pain. I turned off the phone and swallowed the medicine prescribed by the doctor without hesitation.

"What are you taking?" I suddenly heard Joe's voice as he stood by the door with his eyes on my phone.
