Chapter 2

I watched coldly as these oblivious women fawned over Kimberly.

I initially planned to avoid conflict, but trouble found me.

Angel, the biggest sycophant, smirked and pointed at my water cup, saying, "How dare you use such a nice cup when you're poor? Who do you think you are to be compared to Kimberly?"

Only then did I notice that the cup Kimberly was using was identical to mine.

I bought it when I went to France with my dad last year. It was from the luxury brand Bacara.

I bought a pair at that time, each costing one hundred and seventy thousand dollars.

When I brought one home, Kimberly had envied it so much that I casually gave her one.

She was thrilled and couldn't stop showing it off online, but she rarely used it.

Today, I grabbed this cup since I couldn't find another.

I didn't expect Kimberly to bring it to work to flaunt it.

I smiled slightly and replied to Angel, "What a coincidence."

Isabel, another flatterer, chimed in angrily, "Coincidence? Kimberly's Cup is a global limited edition, worth 170,000 dollars, bought by her father in France. Yours is just a cheap knockoff."

Her comment drew laughter from the pantry.

"That's right, given her poor appearance, even 17 dollars would be considered expensive, let alone a 170,000 dollars cup."

"I've seen similar cups for three dollars each!"

"You shouldn't even try to compare yourself to Kimberly!"

A group of people flattered Kimberly while belittling me.

Seeing that I didn't react, Angel decided to escalate things.

She picked up my cup with her fingers and said, "It's embarrassing for the company to use such a cheap cup. Let me help you break it, and I'll get you a better one!"

In disbelief, I watched as she let go of my cup, which shattered on the floor.

Kimberly gasped, trying to stop it, but it was too late.

With a loud crack, the valuable cup broke into pieces.

Angel, unfazed, pulled out her phone and opened Amazon, saying, "Look, I'll compensate you with this nine-dollar cup. You've hit the jackpot!"

I silently observed Angel's self-destruction, while Kimberly looked pale, knowing the true value of the cup.

Angel's two years' salary was not enough to compensate me.
