Chapter 2

The fourth year came crashing down like a storm.

Alpha Andrew's son, hungry for power, turned against his father in the dead of night.

Alpha Andrew never stood a chance. He was killed in his sleep.

"He was weak. I'm the Alpha now," his son declared, his voice sharp with ambition. "And you, Ali... you will stand by me. Together, we'll be unstoppable."

The pack erupted in cheers as the son ascended the throne. I became his Luna.

But this time... I was the curse.

"You will stand by me, Ali. We will be unstoppable," he repeated, his voice thick with conviction.

His words were empty promises, drowning in the blood of his father. But when his hand brushed mine, I saw it in his eyes.

He believed.

He believed the same lie every Alpha before him had... that I was their key to greatness.

By the time I was with Alpha Arthur, I had already lost count of how many times I had stood by an Alpha's side, only to see them fall.

Arthur was different. Strong, handsome, a true leader of Moonfang Pack. For the first time, I thought maybe-just maybe-I could escape the curse.

But I was wrong.

Two years in, Blackmoon Pack's Alpha, Blake, ended it all.

The scene was all too familiar: blood staining the earth, the cold gleam of a blade, and the face of an Alpha, defeated. Arthur lay dead at my feet.

I stood over him, numb.

I was only thirty.

Blake tilted his head, eyes narrowing as he watched me, almost as if trying to read something hidden inside me.

"You are now my Alpha,"

"I killed your husband. Aren't you afraid?"

I looked at my daughter, barely two years old, and took a deep breath.

"I can be your Alpha. But I'm not the father of your child. You stay, but your daughter...?"

A mother's fury burned in me.

"I won't forgive the one who killed my child."

Alpha Blake was no different from the others. They all shared the same hunger for power, the same obsession with dominance.

And my children? To them, they were nothing more than prized possessions.

Every night, I slept in the softest bed, surrounded by wealth, comfort, and safety.

But every morning, I woke up unsure. Would my Alpha still be breathing? Who would sit beside me? And who would lie dead on the floor?

How many times had I asked myself: Who's really causing the chaos here?

The pack members, the wolves-they all said it was me. That I was the curse, the harbinger of death.

If not for my children, I would have fallen long ago.

The grand hall buzzed with laughter, clinking glasses, but a coldness crept over me.

Blake raised his glass, his voice filled with authority. "To victory. To the future of our pack."

I smiled, nodded, but my eyes never left the cup before me.

He noticed. "What's wrong?"

"I'm just... not in the mood."

"Don't worry, I'll make sure you enjoy this celebration." Blake's voice was smooth, his hand already reaching for my glass. Before I could stop him, he took a sip.

A chill ran through me as I felt the shift in the air. Something was off.

"You know, Luna," a voice interrupted, cold and cutting. "You look more... reserved than usual."

I turned. Luna Mary stood there, her eyes sharp, her lips curling into a sly smile.

Her gaze flicked to Blake. "It must be so difficult, having to compete for his attention, day after day."

She leaned in, voice dripping with venom. "Blake's affection is fleeting. He'll grow bored of you, just like he has with all the others."

I felt my heart race, but before I could respond, Sally rushed toward me, her face drained of color.

"Luna, I... I have to tell you something." She knelt, trembling.

"What is it?" My voice was low, demanding.

Her eyes locked onto mine, filled with fear. "There's something in your drink."

Blake, oblivious to the tension, raised his glass once more. "What's taking so long, my Luna? You still haven't had a drink."

"Blake, wait," I said, my voice sharp.

Before I could stop her, Luna Mary's voice rang out, sweet but laced with venom. "To my lucky star, Luna," she said, her eyes gleaming with false sweetness. "It is your presence that has brought us victory in this war."

The room fell silent, every noble eye now fixed on me.

I stood tall, the weight of their gazes pressing down. I swallowed hard, then spoke, my voice clear and steady. "I cannot drink."

A breathless pause filled the room.

"I am pregnant with Alpha Blake's child."
