The Legacy of Betrayal
Chapter 4
That night, my husband didn’t come home. I was crying my eyes out, I was beyond exhausted that night. The next morning, I read the text he sent me last night.
“Hey, Baby. I won’t be home tonight. I went to the headquarters because the Information Department messaged me that a certain group from Sicily was targeting us. I will tell you the details once I am home. Don’t forget to drink your meds before you go to bed, okay? So that we can have our little Luane and little Knox soon. I love you so much, wife.”
I read the message and I felt nothing, If I hadn’t known the truth I would be giggling and smiling reading his message. And I would respond immediately, but I am no longer Luane he knows, the loving wife that he neglected and cheated on.
I can’t believe how people can easily utter lies without even knowing the weight of the words.
Now I know who that woman was. She’s a prostitute in one of the brothels we own. She’s Erika Lopez, a twenty-one-year-old, Knox met her almost a year ago and their affair started right after they met at the brothel while Knox was investigating the incident--a prostitute was killed by a client.
That Knox, my husband was treating her like the most precious person in the world. And he spent some of MY money on that pimp. I bit my lower lip as I calmed myself down, I couldn’t believe that Knox would find a cheap woman, a woman who doesn’t even come from the same class as me.
I sent a message on Erika’s number, I saved her number after I hacked Knox's phone. And I knew she knew who I was. The way she mocked me yesterday, she knew I was stalking them. I wore a dress and under my dress was the first gun my Daddy gave me.
I sent a message to Saldivar, that I need some men that are not under the Grimaldi. I am certain that the men from Grimaldi follow Knox because he was the current patriarch, and knowing that Knox met that bitch at work. Some of my men, know that my husband is cheating on me.
I am against violence but this time, I want to let everyone know that I am the true heir to the throne. That being ruthless runs in the blood. I picked up a new car and headed to the Cafe where I would meet Erika.
And the men Saldivar sent me was on standby, I was wearing an earpiece. If everything goes down, all I have to do is signal my men to kidnap Erika.
After almost an hour, Erika arrived, wearing a red dress and killer heels. She sat across and smiled.
“I am glad that you already know who I am,” Erika uttered with sarcasm.
My hand is on my legs, ready to pull the gun and scare the hell out of Erika. My goal is to scare her, but right now, I want to teach her a lesson that she will remember her entire life.
“Well, I had done enough research.”
Erika laughed sarcastically, “Your husband didn’t come home last night, right? Because he was with me the whole night, he was attentive to every move I made and he told me that he would marry me and make our child the legitimate heir to the clan-”
“Why would that bastard child of yours will become the head of Grimaldi?” I leaned forward, “I am the only heir to the Grimaldi Clan. And whatever stupid promises Knox made were all lies. You're just someone Knox uses to pleasure him,” I said while smiling at her. Her expression hardened.
“I am carrying his child, Luane. You’re just a wife who can’t give her husband a real family. And now, everything that is yours is mine,” she said smugly.
I smiled, “Of course, you can have my trash, Erika. You can take my husband from me but not the money, the title, and the power that I hold. And if I completely divorce him, he will become as poor as the rat because everything that he had is mine. And the things that he gave you? They’re mine, you’re just a garbage collector.”
“You’re lying! You stupid bitch, I will take everything from you! You and your mother will suffer!” Erika slammed her hand on the table.
And with the anger I felt because of her arrogance, I pulled the gone, a silencer was attached to it so that I wouldn't attract attention but before I could pull the trigger a loud bang was heard and the men Saldivar hired protected me. And when I looked at Erika, a group of men pulled her away from our seat and protected her. I am sure they’re not one of the guys Saldivar hired.
Erika glared at me and the man who was holding Erika tried to shoot me, but the man Saldivar hired reacted immediately pulling me away and that was the last thing I remembered. The darkness took my consciousness away.
