Chapter 1

Jenny posted a picture of me and her brother, who had an intellectual disability.

The caption? "Finally, a happy ending!"

The comments were all the same: "Is this your sister-in-law? She’s gorgeous!"

I simply replied with a question mark, but Jenny ignored me and responded to someone else instead. "She's kinda my sister-in-law, yes!"

It didn't take long for Steven to call me, his tone full of anger. "It was just a little edit, do you really have to blow things out of proportion?"

Half an hour later, Jenny posted another photo of her sitting in Steven's luxury car, and even tagged me in it.

"We may not be related by blood, but this big brother of mine has always been my rock!"

Steven commented. "I'll always be here."

I knew he was trying to get a rise on me on purpose to appease Jenny, but I didn't grace them with a reply this time.

All I did was like the post and file for divorce.

When I got home from my grandmother's funeral, Steven was there, leaning back on the sofa.

"You're back."

I nodded, before walking straight to my bedroom.

Suddenly, Steven stood up and grabbed my wrist. "Isn't there anything you should say?"

I hadn’t shed a single tear during the funeral, but I cried the entire way home. Now, I was just exhausted. "No."

Steven picked up on how cold I was acting, and his expression darkened even more. "Don't you owe Jenny an apology for replying to her like that on social media and embarrassing her?"

I actually laughed out of sheer disbelief and anger. My husband, who I'd been married to for five years, didn't keep me company at all in the most painful moments of my life. He hadn't even said anything to comfort me or care, and now he was hung up over something so laughably trivial?

Sure, he had claimed that he was too busy with work, so he couldn't attend my grandmother's funeral back in my hometown. That didn't seem to stop him from going back to Jenny's hometown to see her family, though.

Jenny was the one who had photoshopped my picture to post it on social media, captioning with misleading lies about me. On top of that, this husband of mine had agreed to it.

I looked straight into his eyes. "Steven, I'm your wife. Do you even know what a post on Jenny's social media implies?"

I was too busy days ago to even check on social media whatsoever. In fact, I only found out about it when a mutual friend called me and informed me about it.

The picture Jenny used was taken on Steven's phone, and he was the only one who had it.

Jenny managed to get that photo, photoshopped me to be with her elder brother, and captioned it, wishing that her brother and I would find happiness…

And now, I wasn't even allowed to question it?

Steven's gaze flickered, his conscience not being able to take me staring at him, but then he puffed up again like an arrogant peacock. "It was just a joke! Don't you have better things to do than make a mountain out of a molehill?

"Jenny was sad because her brother was being mocked for not finding a wife! All she wanted to achieve by posting that picture was to get back at those people. Can't you have a little sympathy? It's not like it cost you anything, it was just a picture!"

I was already so heartbroken I felt numb, and I glared at Steven. "If you're so sympathetic of Jenny, why don't you have your own sister marry her brother?!"

Slap!

"You're vile! How could you even think of letting my sister marry an idiot like him?!"

I pressed my palm to my burning cheek, tears welling up in my eyes. However, I refused to back down, tilting my head up and looking straight into his eyes.

"Let's get a divorce."
